Talks of Shadowing

Eastern Weyr - Commons Cavern
A grand stairway leads downward into the cool rock of the commons cavern, a place for socializing and relaxing, as well as an area that provides solid shelter from the seasonal storms of this area. One of the few caverns at Eastern Weyr, the rock here has been worn away by centuries worth of water movement, leaving a nearly glass smooth polish over much of the room. Rocky shelves line the walls on which electric lights covered with paper lanterns rest, providing adequate illumination for the area. High above are further light fixtures, enabling a wide range of lighting options here. A natural pool occupies half of the far end of the cavern and is supplied with heated water piped in by an ingenious techcrafter. All about the room are balconies of rock with stairs leading to them and small dumbwaiters for the purpose of delivering food and drink to their heights.

"I wouldn't know, I was just searched once." Es'nak remarks, stuffing a wherry slice in his mouth. "Never had to do any chores." smiiiile. "And go for it." he adds to Delynni.

Delynni plunks herself down in her chair and sighs in relief. "Thanks. Tell you about Torukia, the rider I shadowed, she was doing deliveries to Xanadu, or she /said/ she was. But then, she finishes her delivery in ten minutes and spends the next 3 hours gossiping with the same circle of annoying little rider friends."

It seems a gathering. Everyone is seated save Delynni who's just arrived and looks to be about to plop into a seat as well. Yup, right beside Nalissi who is beside

Jeread who is across from Es'nak who is beside and probably oggling Amarante. The mood is jovial and friendly as introductions are made each time a new person arrives. "I'm Nalissi," the auburn-curled girl says to Del as she sits.

Kharzan meanders is way into the cavern by way of the terrace. Judging by the way he's wet, it might be safe to assume he'd been out there at the cove. He seems hardly to notice the people already there, or well, if he does he's not really quite integrating himself into the rather large, for him, group. Instead he's carefully making his way towards the outskirts of the gathered people and is trying to be quiet about it. Except in comes Byte who swoops down and demands food as he is want to do. "Shh!" the apprentice turned candidate admonishes the blue and coaxes him down and moves back around to the serving tables for some food.

Es'nak nods at Nalissi. "All right, sounds like fun." he looks over at Kharzan. Hey You." yes, Es'nak has renamed Kharzan. "What did you do today?" he asks.

Delynni turns to hear Kharzan's answer, taking a deep breath, then another. "And if you ever have to shadow Torukia, run for your life. As far away as you can. She'll drag you around and gossip you to death." She drags on her mug of klah, gulping at the lifesaving liquid. "Delynni, just call me Del." She tells Nalissi. "Candidate and runner racer."

Nalissi giggles a bit and nods her head, curls bouncing lightly as she does so. A rebellious one is retucked behind her ear and smiles, "Nice to meet you, Del," she answers. "I ah..well since we're all saying what we do..I make things.. technically a smith but.." and she holds out her arm, wriggling her fingers of the same hand. Bracelets and rings sparkle, most of them worked with tiney mosaics of gemstones, glass, etched bone, and the like, tiny, intricate designs. "I"m from Greenfields..supposed to be learnin a little more about making things..the base pieces for my jewelry for one."

Kharzan is caught. A glance towards Es'nak "Who, umm me?" he asks and comes over to the others, albeit a bit reluctantly. Though there is a bit a smile more for Nalissi than the others "I was umm, with S'dan and all." he murmurs as he sits down while Byte helps himself to dinner from Kharzan's plate. The boy himself only picks at it a bit.

"Ah. And did you learn anything interesting?" Es'nak seems pretty interested, which is odd considering Kharzan's not, y'know, a girl. He finishes his food and stretches out, eying Nalissi's jewelry with a raised eyebrow.

Delynni eyes Nalissi's hand. "My goodness gracious. How did you make all those sparklies?" She asks. "oooh, but I'd never be able to afford that. Besides, I don't wear jewelery." Delynni shrugs. "Besides. I'm covered in henna." She points to the tattoos that cover her entire back and front. "I don't need any more orientation."

Nalissi grins, "Well this one.." and she taps a bone bangle, "has little vines in ink.. then the others are set with gems..or glass or wood sometimes..I think it'd be pretty to have little charms on dragon straps.. or pins.. or even make some hair barrets an combs!" she says, bordering on being excited.

Kharzan gives a bit of a nod "I did." he murmurs as he picks apart a roll, nibbling on small pieces and the like. He eyes the girls and then shakes his head some. See, now that's why Zorya's cool."

Es'nak smiles. "Well that's good." standing up, he stretches. "Ehh, one of you can get that." he gestures at the plate. C'mon, candidates, jump to it! Yeah, Es'nak's an ass. What of it? "Keep up the good work, everyone." off he goes.

Delynni rolls her eyes. "For a bronzerider and former Weyrleader, you're rather rude." She says coldly. "NEAT!" She exclaims. "You should talk to my weyrmate. We can't exactly /do/ anything while I'm a candidate, but she loves colorful stuff." Delynni grins. "You should talk to her, she'd love that stuff. She'll probably trade you a bikini for it, and trust me she makes good bikinis."

Nalissi nods her head then blinks up at the abrupt departure orders and nods her head to those leaving. "It was nice to meet you.." she says smiling. "Oh really what is her name?" she asks Del. "Does she make other things too? I think this attire is entirely tooooo warm for this place.." she nods.

Kharzan eyes Es'nak a moment and then continues to pull apart his roll. He's doing much better after his talk with S'dan after all and goes back to taking rabbit nibbles out of it, before disappearing.
