Candidate Project - Jannen

Kitchens

The Kitchens are a hustle and bustle of post-dinner activities, with people coming in and out. The cooks are finishing up their stove work, getting the last of the dessert fair out of the ovens, while others are returning from the caverns with dirty dishes. Jannen, poor luckless lad that he is, is on dish washing duty, leaning over a suds filled sink with a scrub brush and some food caked pans that he's trying to get scrubbed. "I'd like t'have words with whoever did cookin' with this pan," he mutters, as he scrapes and scrubs and scrapes. "Shards! Stuck on fast!"

Chisri is standing at one of the counters with a knife in hand, cutting at onions. He stares down at the onions before him with a empty look to his face, "It's not that bad." Chisri says quietly towards Jannen, pushing the cut onions off to the side and then begins peeling one of the potatoes. "I have to clean the stables after this, and then after that I have to clean the caverns and help with the barracks." There's a soft sigh, letting his shoulders slump as he gets on peeling the potato.

Trevares glances around slightly while he is left washing dishes? How does this work? There is a slight pause as he hears the others and a soft ah escapes him. "What is stuck on it?" This questioned while he pauses to put a few plates onto a drying rack.

Jannen shrugs. "I dun' mind being in kitchen duties, or any o' that, I just don' like having my fingers turn all wrinkly in the water," he dunks the pan back into the soapy water to soak for a moment while he tackles some cups. "In fact I like working in the kitchens. I get to eat the extra bubblies," he says sneakily. He turns to look at Trevares. "I dunno, but I bet it didn't taste very good…"

"If you don't like it, I'll switch with you. It doesn't matter what I do." Chisri mutters under his breath, focused on cutting up the potatoes and pushing them off to the side. He remains fairly quiet, listening to the other candidates as he cuts the vegitables before him. He doesn't comment on the bubblies or the taste of the food.

Trevares picks up a towel and works on drying off his hands, and arms and well he got a bit wet alright? "Could be worse.. You could have had to wash the dishes and the spray bit could bust on you." Like it did with him, which is how he got so wet mind you.

Jannen shrugs again. "Nah, I've had my share of unpleasant chores," he states, and washes another dish. And another. And another. "Been a candidate twice before, they sure love to give us the chores," he starts on another pot. "Just don't like wrinkly fingers," he concludes. "Makes working with electronics fiddly…" he finally starts to tackle the pan again. "There, that's coming along…" he thinks about the tap breaking and shrugs. "I've had worse happen…" He doesn't want to talk about what exactly worse could be.

"If it busts, I can fix it." Chisri says half-heartedly, shrugging his shoulders as he cuts up some more vegitables, staring down as he works the knife in his hand. He glances over at Jannen, arching a brow. "I don't know why people would do this twice, I'm not doing this again. This the only time I'm standing as far as I'm concerned." CHisri shakes his head slowly, reaching out to grab the next vegitable.

Trevares shakes his head a bit before he is grabbed by a cook and pushed over to to a table and told to start cutting up more veggies for dinner it seems. There is a pause as if he would rather not before he picks up the knife and gets too it. Hopfuly he won't cut himself during this. "Good point on the wrinkly fingers bit. Though I have to say I've been shocked in the past so I'm wondering what is worse, that or getting cut with something sharp truthfuly." He eyes the knife a moment before glancing to Chisri. "Oh really?"

Jannen shrugs. "I said that to m'self first time. But then…ye get on the sands…" he has a sort of sad sound to his voice when he says that. "I'm not sure I can do it again after this though, it hurts…you know…when yer passed over…" he starts drying his hands with a towel. "Getting cut definitely," and he turns comes over to the table to start helping with the chopping. "See," he touches the scar on his face. "That stays with you. Shocked doesn't scar 't'least…" he says.

"I already lost my knot once," Chisri says, rolling his shoulders as he continues to slice up the vegitables, glancing over towards Trev, "Do it like this, you won't get yourself cut if you watch your fingers." He glances over towards Jannen, frowning, "Well, I'm not standing again. Ever. I've more important fish to fry than waiting around for a dragon that's never going to show up. Humans barely want me around, can't think how a dragon'd want me around." Chi shrugs his shoulders, reaching out to cut up the next vegitable.

Trevares shakes his head and peers over at Chisri at the knot comment. "Yes, and di dyou learn anything from it?" This questioned while he works on cutting more things, oh look a carrot, chopchopchop. A glance is sent towards Jannen and he nods. "Well It's what I figured. I got cut up with a fishing net before when it got wrapped around to tightly." Wasn't a good expierence.

Jannen doesn't respond to Chisri immediately, but his eyes take on a bit of a dark look. "Know how that feels…" he says, and then looks over at Travares. "That does sound painful. I'm gonna go check fer more dirty dishes, and start cleanin' the caverns…" he pushes the onions he's been chopping away. "Before these darn things make me start tearin' anyways," he chuckles, though his sad eyes are probably not just from the onions.
