Hatching After-baths

Monaco Bay Weyr - Candidate and Weyrling Barracks
Huge in its own right, this series of interlinked caverns is the complex that houses both candidates and weyrlings. Fashioned out of a multitude of hollows, it serves as a central gathering area as well as classroom. A number of deep pockets have been laborously smoothed to provide comfortable dwellings for the young dragons and their riders away from the weather of the central area, and affording them some privacy but not much. Above, the cavern opens to the sky, holding out the worst of the island's weather but allowing an aerial exit and providing natural lighting to the area. Branching off from this cavern is an opening that leads to the exercise yard, and another carved passage that leads onto the hatching sands - though this entrance is typically closed tight to prevent mischief.**

Note: this is just the part Lily had, and I got RLed and had to fade out, but this was cute so I felt it should be put up!

Sonya stifles a yawn with one hand as she continues to feed her lifemate. It's not just the pollen that has her a little glassy eyed though the lateness of the hour could attribute to it as well. Most likely though it's the fact that in this late night when most people would be sleeping she's back in the barracks but on the weyrling side and she's feeding a good sized blue hatchling. Who is MESSY. Lords and ladies is he making a mess. And that tail hasn't stopped swishing either. Farnath help anyone behind him. "We'll pick out a spot to sleep soon." is promised to an unheard comment from the blue, who for a wonder, doesn't announce his question to everyone. Yet.

T'kel is there as well, still clad in his robe with his hair pulled back in those silvery metal barrettes as he feeds his bronze, looking down at the massive head, working slowly. He's got the most feeding yet to do since he just got off the Sands himself. Sweat from the heat of the Sands bedews his brow and he uses a free hand to wipe it off, only to have it collect again. He seems off in his own world, but is intensely aware of his lifemate's needs and of his surroundings. It's just a deeper version of one of his artistic trances.

SOMEONE is a lady, thank you ever so much! Sareth sits at her newly Impressed lifemate's feet, her tail wrapped around his legs a bit and opens her very toothy maw for handfuls of bloody red meat bits. Bellamy…no…B'ay is so glad that so much effort had been put into making his once stained second hand candidate robe white. Now it's a mix of yellow and red and ick and it's so not going to make it down the line to the next generation. Sorry, Dad. Chewing. Chewing. Swallow….and a twitch! "Itchy now?" he blinks, perplexed and maybe still a bit dazed by the fact this creature was now his! And he, hers, as she corrects. "Faranth, you're a mess though…" He couldn't even make out her coloring aside from the fact he was pretty sure she wasn't gold. Heh.

And Yaszaelgith is just as much a gentleman! Thankfully for squeamish Lily, who is not doing well with the … meat thing … at all, he is very cautiously and daintily eating meat pieces from off the floor where she's set them out for him. In a neatly lined row. Just who is in charge here? Every bite is a careful lick and a slow chew and another lick of his snout to be sure there isn't any of that awful blood on it before he consumes another, slowly and daintily. All of this is a blessing for Lily. She only had to explain it once. She's not looking at the eating at all, and is still toweling off pollen-y bits of the back of him. "I swear there's blue under here somewhere," she mutters.

Q'ton follows the last of the new pairs off the Sands, first getting the stragglers set up with large buckets of raw meat, helpfully cut into bite-sized pieces, then making the rounds to make sure that everyone else has plenty for their own young dragons, "Make sure they don't eat too fast. We don't want them to choke." He chuckles softly at the soft conversations he hears, "After they've eaten their fill, we'll get them bathed." The brown man wrinkles his nose, "We may have to carry them there and back, but they'll feel better once they're clean and oiled."

Oh yes…making the dragon less…yellow. Sonya eventually clears her head with a shake as she realizes others are starting to find dragon hides under the pollen and white fluff. She should do the same! A twist of her body and she'll nod in agreement at Q's words. "I'll feel better too after he's cleaned. I almost feel like i'm covered in pollen and stuff too. " which she might have some but most of that feeling is no doubt from her weyrling dragon. "And I'm hungry too.." her nose wrinkles. "I wasn't hungry when went out into the sands." so confusing seperating her thoughts from Askaveth's!

T'kel looks up at the unfamiliar voice. He wasn't familiar with all the Werylingmaster staff yet and his eyes refocus to look quizzical as he offers another chunk of meat to his hungry bronze, who is at least eating fairly neatly, though his robe as well will have to go in the rag bin. Oh well, it was made from tuber sacks anyway. He picks some fluff out of his hair, still watching Q'ton carefully, though not saying anything yet.

Sareth is done eating now, her once red whirling facets now a bright and ever present blue with mere flickers of their past state, although she is indeed filthy. B'ay reassures her that bathing is for certain the very next step before he looks over to Sonya and nods, "Uh, you are…actually…" he points out, of her being covered in pollen of every sort. In fact, they probably all were, thanks to the hot sands making them sweat just as much as the unknown of such a sticky and muggy ambience. "So uh, can we just go or…." is asked of Q'ton and even B'ay was starting to look a bit twitchy and antsy to get out of this robe and into some nice clean water.

"I mostly wiped him off because he wouldn't stop complaining," Lily says dryly; before the last word is even out of her mouth Yaszaelgith has snorted in response. And tossed his head indignantly, just a little bit. "But an actual bath would be excellent. Do we get actual baths, too?" sounds much more hopeful, as B'ay sensibly asks the same thing.

"If you don't want to get them out to bathe, we can bring in buckets of water and give them sponge baths." Since it looks like several are already doing that with what they've got at hand. Q'ton smiles at Sonya, "There's food waiting for all of you, too. We'll get them settled and then you can get something to eat." Then Lily's question gets a soft chuckle, "Yes, you get baths, too." He makes a face and looks down at himself, "For that matter, I could use a bath." His grin is back quickly enough, "You'll get mostly clean just getting them cleaned up, though."

Askaveth grunts once. Nudging Sonya in the stomach to cause her to oof in surprise. "Well you are a bit dirty. But…" now she gushes over her blue. "So handsome." running a hand along his hide she inspects every inch of him as he finishes a couple more bites before burping. A quick glance and a grin is given for her friend, Bellamy. "So are you Bell…" she points out. "Oh I don't care if I have to carry him back." is noted to Q. She's good with going somewhere for the bath or staying here. Her hands run along his neck ridge as she continues her inspection. There's a head tilt as she regard his head finally. One of his eyes whirl quickly with fading reds of hunger and no doubt itchiness but the other is completely dark. Blinking a few times she tries to be discreet as she peeks at the other hatchlings eyes. Askaveth though has no complaints thus far. He does comment though « We all must bathe and be clean! » this he declares to EVERYONE.

Big brains Lily! Big brains! Simpatico. B'ay snaps the fingers of his less than clean hand there and points at her and then at Q'ton with all the questioning in his eyes as he and Sareth start just sort of drifting the direction of the nearest exit towards any source of water really. Shuffle. Shuffle. Scraaaaaap. A smirky grin is flashes at Sonya, for he is well aware that he is super gross right now, and he's going to go do something about it. Right. Now.

T'kel finally decides to speak from his corner, his voice lower in pitch than it has ever been unless he's been singing; a melodious low tenor. "That would be wonderful, sir," he. "A bath and a change of clothes and some food after I get Szikrath comfortable. That's the most important thing, isn't it?" His free hand gently strokes the bronze's neckridges.

Lily looks at Yaszaelgith. Lily looks at everyone else. Lily gives up: "I'm not sure I can lift him?" is squeaked out. Guys, she is a mathematician, she works at a computer, she can't carry an eight foot long animal here. "I mean, I think I can lift the front of him; I don't think I can lift all of him." Which is highly unfortunate because Yaszaelgith is definitely looking like he's starting to doze, but they must bathe! « Mm, yes, » he agrees, finding the other blue's announcement suitable enough for him to attach himself to. He wrinkles his nose again, snorts again, and at that point Lily sneezes and the blue shuts his eyes as if this is embarrassing to him.

Q'ton grins at the young blue's declaration, "Then we will get you clean!" He looks around at Monaco's newest weyrlings, "Whenever everyone is ready…" Once they're all fed and ready to go, he leads them out to where they can bathe. T'kel gets an incline of the greenrider's head, "Indeed." Poor Lily, though… The man sighs, muttering something to himself about pollen, and walks over to the sneezing pair, "Can Yaszaelgith make it himself? I can help carry him, if not."

Sonya isn't quite sure she can actually pick up the blue but she'll do it if needed. Of course Askaveth is loudly declaring his need to be cleaned immediately so hopefully he'll make it back on his own. So he'll head out. Never mind that he bumps into the doorway on the way out. Happily he'll enter the water with Sonya wading in robes and all to help splash water over him. Soon enough her three younger firelizards zip out happily to help. Zipping in gleeful circles around the blues head they all quickly make friends.

T'kel looks down at Szikrath again. "Yes, get this stuff off of him so everyone can see how beautiful he really is." He throttles a sneeze himself. "What is this stuff anyway?" It's his first spring in Monaco Bay Weyr after all. "No, I don't like it either Szikrath and I will see every last mote of this dust is off of you and your hide is nicely oiled before I attend to myself."

Sareth can make it under her own power, somehow, for she is as fatigued as the rest of her clutchmates. Seems as if she's going to power through it folks, but thank goodness their destination isn't too far. B'ay was keeping an eye, well admittedly both eyes, on her though. Not really because he was worried she'd poop out before she got there, but because he was worried she'd poop out before she got there. It's complicated, okay? « Don't you worry about me pretty boy, I got this handled! » One paw in front of the other and into the shallows with her all on her own. Then? She simply plunks down and makes herself available, B'ay more than happy to toss off that ruined robe that'd done its duty and getting in with the yellowed hatchling. "Okay, lets see what we got, hmmm?" Humming a very pleased tune, the harper weyrling begins to wash Sareth off, releasing soft sounds of delight as more and more of her coloring is revealed. Sareth croons along, neither of them shy, that is for sure.

"Oh, he'll get in just fine — " Lily doesn't get a chance to even declare that much, because the smaller blue is off toward that bath as soon as he's figured out he has the option of doing so. Baths are a crucial part of life, and he has no concerns about falling asleep, either: « I can rest here. This is fine. » It's warm, and wet and clean and why is Lily not all the way in the water? "Pollen," she's telling T'kel. "Otherwise known as air poison. This was unprecedented, though, the reports didn't say it would be this bad." « Perhaps you read them incorrectly. She may have read them wrong, Szikrath — » "I didn't read them wrong."

T'kel is finally done with his bronze's dinner and the big hatchling is able to make it under his own power to the baths and plunges in. Tykel walks along behind at a slower pace. "Pollen? I don't remember anything like it at the place I was at before I came here but there weren't that many flowers there either." Again that liquid tenor. T'kel does stop to take off his robe, revealing that he was wearing his swim trunks underneath it for modesty. Into the water he goes, grabbing a soft sponge to help Szikrath clean off with deft, gentle strokes. "I hope it goes away soon. It gets all over everything and everyone."

Askaveth ends up near Sareth. Close enough to attempt a nudge at her with his head. He misses and nudges B'ay instead. Oops. Sonya is headed that way, notes distantly that B'ay is sans robes and quickly turns her eyes to the green. "She's gorgeous." she rasps out, having had a coughing fit mere moments before.

It honestly does not take long for B'ay to wash all the pollen and fluff off his decidedly green lifemate, although it does take him a hot minute to figure out those yellow bits along her neck and back ridges were not coming off, « Yes, I believe those— are— attached. » Cheeks pinking, "Uh, right, sorry about that…" Cough. Cough. Wouldn't do to rub her raw after all and so he works on himself as Sareth watches, still itchy enough to keep her awake but not so much that Bell wasn't going to get the opportunity to clean up. With Askaveth's nudge, the greenling startles, seeing to it that both Sareth and B'ay had their attention most readily upon the young blue, "Uh, well…hello!" A little splash is sent Sonya's way, chuckling softly at her reaction, "Thank you! Isn't she though? And your Askaveth is stunning…"

Q'ton frowns faintly at the firelizards and shakes his head, muttering again, "See to it that your firelizards don't scare your dragons." It's the only thing he actually says loud enough to be undersood. He follows after the group, chuckling softly at the ongoing conversations. He can't help but smirk slightly at the antics going on in the water. He does a fair job, himself, of hiding a faint pinking of his ears at B'ay's lack of robe. It wouldn't do to let the group know that he embarasses easily, would it?

Sonya splashes back towards B'ay before returning to splashing and scrubbing to reveal more and more blue. "Oooh." she breaths softly as she takes in every inch. Again. Honestly she can't stop looking at her lifemate with slightly glassy eyes. Often she pauses to converse silently with him. The firelizards swoop in and out of the water before fleeing upwards and disapearing between finally at a quite command from Sonya. "Sorry, weyrlingmaster sir." she'll say his way. "They are excited to meet him." they can meet him later on when they all try to sleep on him. Splashing around she's fairly soaked in her robe, getting fairly cleaned up herself as well as Askaveth. Eventually the dragon trudges out of the water, his tail swishing crazily. Watch out!
