Clutch 15's Graduation

Eastern Weyr - Candidate/Weyrling Cavern
Huge in comparison to the other major caverns in the weyr proper, this series of interlinked caverns is the weyrling complex. Fashioned out of a multitude of hollows, it serves as a central gathering area as well as classroom. A number of deep pockets have been laborously smoothed to provide comfortable dwellings for the young dragons and their riders away from the weather of the central area, and affording them some privacy but not much.
Above the cavern opens to the sky, holding out the worst of the island's weather but allowing an exit to the sky above and providing natural lighting to the area. Branching off from this cavern is an opening that leads to the exercise yard.

[DTU/Project] Talisyth and Perrinth sense that Pagnisath seeks out and establishes contact in a flood of silvery bells. An image of the main clearing is set before the gold breaks contact, leaving behind the faint aftertaste of blood.

Eastern Weyr - Main Clearing(#9861RJ)
The seemingly endless sea of lush jungle gives way to a gaping, clearing nestled close to the bay's shore. Large and spacious, the clearing provides ample room for dragons to take off and land, as well as lounge as they wait for their rider to return from whatever errand. There is a distinct boundary of where the jungle ends and the clearing begins, with massive trees towering into the sky, a formidable fence of sorts. Cut into the dense jungle growth paths are maintained that twist their way through the forest to other parts of the weyr.

There's quite the set up in the main clearing. Heavy tables and appropriate seating benches from the commons have been dragged out into the clearing. Along one side of the clearing are several long tables, decked festively with the dark blue and silver of Eastern. Drudges bustle about, and, if it's not clear by now, something most definitely is in the works. Towards the far end, away from the weyr, is a collection of the weyrleaders, wingleaders, and several other riders.

Jheina walks in at an almost sedate pace, while Talisyth comes in from the sky, backwinging and sending a few streamers flying as she lands and tucks up her wings. The Weyrling is just looking at the set up, and crosses over to her dragon, looking a little wary. "What're they up to, Tali?" Though, it's probably obvious.

Let Jheina and Talisyth come in at a sedate pace — Perrinth's gonna run like a dog. Streamers, baby! The brown gallops up from the beach path at top speed, stopping just short of the decorations and setting some of them fluttering. But mostly, its the dirt that flies to most, cascading up from where he just stopped and over a bit of the tables 'n such. Whaa? He's innocent! Behind the brown, a few paces off, his seemingly always serious rider is following behind, taking slow steps as he fusses up his hair a bit, causing it to stick at awkward angles. Making his way finally next to his beast, R'nel looks over the procession with a bit of curiousity. «G-graduation, mine.» Is stated clearly, before the brown leans closer and talks in a whisper. «… After this we can chase the girls, huh?» The statement causes Nelly's eyes to widen a bit in shock, but he doesn't reply, instead leaving the brown to his own devices as he sees Jheina heading over.

Someone's quick on the uptake. Unfortunately that someone may one day be running the weyr. Pagnisath is up towards the front of things, her golden form a backdrop against which the organizers of the event are standing. As more weyrlings begin to wing in and show up, the golden dragon uprights herself to a standing position and trills to her offspring. So pretty they are today, pretty indeed. Even Pagnisath has spruced herself up for this occasion; the gold's cornflower hide shines with a thin coating of oil. The arrival of rowdy weyrlings, such as Perrinth and R'nel, cause several drudges to swear and seethe as things are dirtied up and displays are knocked out of order. Ingrateful brats.

Wiyaneth glides down into the clearing to an easy landing.

Yeah, poor Eastern. Someday it'll be subject to Jheina's bluntness and her oh-so-sharp wit. But give the Weyrling a break, it takes her an hour or two to really wake up, and she was napping not too long ago. Talisyth trills back to Pagnisath, plodding up the clearing to take a seat by the other gold. «Like that puppy-brown said, mine; Graduation. We'll finally be able to take a few trips!» The young gold sounds pleased at this, and Jheina actually does smile, and offers a wave to R'nel as she heads towards Mianyi. "So we're finally going to be able to do things, are we?" Is asked with a bit of sass.

Elara slides down Wiyaneth's side to her offered foreleg, and from that to the ground with a warm smile for her dragon.

Wiyaneth appears from between high above the clearing and glides down to land in a clear area, a ways back from any main congregation spot. She trumpets softly her greeting as she folds her wings along her sides and crouches to let her rider dismount. Elara slides off in a flurry of skirts, fighting with the rust colored gown for a moment before she fixes her brown curls and pats her queen's flank, striding forward with a wide smile and a basket slung over one arm. Wiyaneth settles herself down and arches her neck a little, the Fortian Queen crooning happily towards Pagnisath.

What Jheina lacks for in intelligence, she most certainly makes up for with her biting sarcasm. Mianyi looks up from the preparations to peer at Jheina, "Why yes, I've got plenty of hide work that needs taking care of." Yes, the senior is capable of a touch of evilness and sarcasm herself. "Take a seat and wait for things to get started," she says dimissively, "Just about five more minutes until everyone gets here." Wiyaneth's descent is watched with attention from Pagnisath, and the Eastern senior trills excitedly to her Fortian counterpart before settling down with a deep croon. The actions of Pagnisath earn a glance from Anyi, and then she looks at the object of the attention and beams, leaving behind the people to finish with the organization and for others to settle down at tables. "Elara! Welcome to Eastern."

Run the Weyr? If the weyr depends on Perrinth, its all going to heck in a handbasket. But if Nelly can help it… Infact, the lad is making his way right over to Jheina, extending his hand in order to return her wave. "Excited, Jheina? Finally, no more living in the barracks…" A Perticular blue weyrling is given the eye before he turns to see Perrinth giving a trill to his mother and looking innocently at the drudges. Nelly makes it over just in time as Minayi evacuates the area to go greet Elara, the brownrider just giving a peek at the other gold before plopping next to Jheina. "Hidework? We can handle that… Pile it all up high, get a lighter." He turns a bit to Jheina with his usual serious look. "Think that would help Mianyi out enough?"

Elara grins as she bustles forward, "Weyrwoman Mianyi! Thank you so much for the invitation. Fort's Duties of course. I brought some apple bloosms from our new orchard. I thought they might make a nice addition to the table decorations." She blushes a little bit, obviously a tad embarassed that she wasn't able to bring anything more than some pretty sticks. She looks towards the weyrlings and smiles, "They look as well as Pagnisath said they did," she compliments. Wiyaneth warbles back at Pagnisath, quite happy for a number of reasons, before she settles down to quietly watch the ceremony.

Jheina gives Mianyi a glowering look, that subsides easily enough. Paperwork isn't her most favorite thing, but she /will/ do it. … Eventually. The goldling does take a seat next to R'nel, crossing her ankles as that same blue'r gets a baleful look from her. Surprised that one isn't running again. "It'll be a relief to get back into my hut! Except I've been lax in getting people to attach a room for Talisyth.." First she's escatic, and then her tone takes on a soft whine, like she didn't have the time to badger people into working on a side room. "Noo, you do it while you teach Perr how to flame, to keep those nasty wild felines at bay. It'd do a better job." She's joking… really. Talisyth warbles a gretting to Wiyaneth, watching the new goldrider curiously, looking interested in the blossoms. For a dragon.

[DTU/Project] Talisyth senses that Wiyaneth's mind is soft and warm, « Congratulations, » the Fortian queen says, her emotions mixed pride and honor and pleasure.

Drudges retreat from the tables and other riders and weyr residents settle down as the weyrlings begin to fall into places at tables. There's apparently no real order to the seating. Mianyi beams at Elara, totally having missed that comment R'nel made about setting work on fire. Good thing she missed that, too. Likewise, Jhei's glower is missed. What did the goldling expect for her sass? "Oh, that'd be wonderful," she says, apparently more happy to see the Fortian weyrwoman than she is concerned about presents. "Would you like to have a seat?" Mianyi asks, gesturing up towards the front, "We're just about to start." With the mention of that Pagnisath shifts about to strike a self-important pose at the head of things. Her offspring, her day of glory. Yeah.

[DTU/Project] Wiyaneth senses that Talisyth's own mind is sultry, coated in deep golds and rusty reds, looking like a tree in autumn. «Thank you.» Is quietly accepted before the younger gold pries a little further. «What is is that yours carries?»

"Oh, I don't think Talisyth will mind! She's sun bathing half the time anyways… I'd fear she'd turn grey if she didn't keep it up." R'nel is looking innocent. Really. "Perrinth isn't going to have an area, except for maybe the nearby trees… He's not too picky about weather, though." Looking over at the brown, who has already gotten a bit of dirt stuck to his hide, Nelly shakes his head and turns to watch the two Weyrwoman, seeing if they head for the front table before he's back to looking at Jheina. "If its such a problem, I'll convince people into helping you finish your hut…" He places a hand on her shoulder and squeezes a bit for reassurance before he's looking over the crowd again, aswell as watching Perrinth make his sneaky way over to the table, so he can hide behind Nelly. Yes, always safe behind the big dude.

[DTU/Project] Talisyth senses that Wiyaneth replies with summer breezes over ripening fields, « They are sticks from some trees. » She sends an image of a small orchard, high up in the Fortian forests. Towering pines circle the small clearing, where grouped is a tiny cluster of apple trees. Their branches are bare except for the delicate pink blooms sprouting from them, smelling rich and sweet. « We brought them as a gift. »

Wiyaneth warbles kindly back to Talisyth before she resumes her observations of the area. Elara smiles at Mianyi and nods, "I'd love to, thank you," she replies, bustling up towards the front and giving Pagnisath a beaming smile. "They're perfect," she mouths to the proud gold.

Jheina blinks, looking at R'nel almost in surprise, not taking too long to find Perrinth. "Surely he'd want shelter during some of the horrible storms we get?" Because you know Talisyth'll be shacked up during those storms, helping to keep her rider from flipping. "We can make that extra room big enough for two, don't you think? To lounge comfortably?" Cough. No, she isn't subtle at least. A look is given to Talisyth who trills softly, her nose sneaking closer to that basket of apple blossoms. "Tali dear, behave yourself!" The goldling raises her voice. "No snatching from that one!" No, snatching from other Weyrwoman is a bad thing. «But..» "No." «.. You'd look pretty with one.» "Appreciated, but no snatching." What's with this, is Jheina actually forming morals or something?

[Eastern Weyr] Jheina: It's scary what Tali's done to Jhei. She's almost like a human being now, instead of pure viper. ;)

Pagnisath is quite aware that her children are perfect. Nevertheless, the approval and compliments from the Fortian pair cause the gold to swell with pride. Mianyi nods to Elara as she heads on her way. Surely the Eastern weyrwoman will go chat with her after the whole ceremony, though. Reaching the front of the set up, Mianyi steps onto a little erected platform and peers at the people gathered. Crowd, whoa. "Good afternoon," she calls out, letting people finish fidgeting and settle down before she continues with her announcement, "We've gathered to celebrate the graduation of our weyrlings into fully functional riders at our weyr." A pause for the slower members of the weyr. "So with that I'd like to start by welcoming A'nan and his brown Gurkith to the Zephyr wing." There's a pause for applause as the rider comes forth to claim his knot, and a package, while the brown bugles proudly. Once things have quieted down, Mianyi calls out again, "C'at and green Kittith to the Flame wing." More applause as the exchange of knots occurs. Once it's quiet the weyrwoman consults her list again. Apparently alphabetical name by rider is the way it's going. "And let's congratulate Jheina and gold Talisyth as our new junior weyrwoman and welcome them to the Zephyr wing." If there's any animosity that Mianyi has for her new junior, well, she's doing a good job at not making faces or letting her voice betray her.

"Why, are you expecting company from other dragons when at your hut?" Nelly quirks his lip a bit and looks over at Talisyth, who is attempting the snatching of blossoms. "I think Perrinth is oblivious to weather or dirt. Finds it fun, mostly. Its just the thunder that gets to him… tends to run as fast as possible under the nearest object…" Nelly mumbles off, turning to find Perrinth's muzzle close to him, and the brown weyrling attempting to hide behind R'nel's chair. "… Wherry liver… " The former Miner mumbles again, turning in his seat so to keep a watch on Mianyi and Elara, since Mia will probably be conducting the whole thing. He flicks his eyes to Tali for a moment before back. «Mine says she doesn't need one to look pretty, she already looks pretty. Come over here, goldlet.» Perrinth relays in a bit of different wording then his rider, causing the weyrling to - flush? Coulden't be, must be a play of light as he watches the Weyrwomen. Cut from that, though, as Nelly hears the starting and beginsto clap when Jheina gets called up. "Have fun…" He's just glad he didn't go up first.

Elara applauds politely as each rider graduates, shifting the basket to set it beneath her chair. Talisyth is given a wink, surely the Weyrwoman will save a bloom for the curious young gold.

Jheina grins, her tone lowering, so they won't get chewed out for talking. "And that's why there should be room for two. Company during storms is always better than no one." Yes, she might have had her share of no one during day long storms where she'd only venture to the caverns for food. Thankfully Tali passes on Perr's comment as her name is called, and her blush could easily be mistaken as a flush of pride. Talisyth bugles her own approval, rearing for a moment before she heeds Perrinth's calls and joins him - closer to her rider - as Jheina walks over to Mianyi to recieve her badge and package, trying to look composed, and succeeding. For the most part.

Mianyi gives her new junior a smile and hands her the knot, "Congratulations," she says, holding out a present package as well. Ooh. Presents. Pagnisath just sits there and looks smug as the riders of her children get shiny new knots, presents, and all that such. Once the ceremony for the goldrider is complete and things have quieted, Mianyi goes on with the calling out of names and handing out of presents. Lendal and bronze Galaeth go to Terra, as do Loli and green Awirth. Merelle and her brown Quelleth get tapped by Deluge and then, "R'nel and his brown Perrinth have been chosen for the Flame wing." So that would be R'nel's cue to come get his knot, present, and congratulations.

R'nel watches Jheina get called up and waits upon his own name, turning around and batting a bit at Perrinth, who keeps insisting on blowing Nelly's hair up. Turning then just to hear his name called, Nelly makes his way out of his seat and towards Mianyi and the stand. "Weyrwoman." He says to Mianyi, giving her a salute as he finally gets himself jogged up there, watching Perrinth for a second to make sure the brown doesn't do anything silly. "You called…" He whispers, giving a slight grin as he accepts his new knot.

Elara applauds all the riders, her eyes watching them and trying to predict what sorts of riders they'll be. Impossible of course, but fun none the less.

What the senior weyrwomen really think is left for them and their weyrmates, although surely some people have good suspicions about Mianyi's thoughts of some of them. "Congratulations," she says, handing over R'nel his knot and a similar present package. Once the applause from that promotion is done, Mianyi calls forth another to Zephyr and then one more is placed in Flame. All the weyrlings graduated, the weyrwoman announces, "Congratulations once more to our newest riders. And in their honor I'd like to welcome you all to the celebration feast." In other words - dig in, drink up, and get jiggy with it. To punctuate the announcement, Pagnisath bugles loudly.

Jheina is standing off politely enough to the side, watching R'nel get his new knot as she smiles, keeping one of her own eyes on Talisyth, who bats at the brown's flank, slightly in irritation. «Behave, Perrinth.» Is all that's said as her eyes whirl with happiness. "How nice, a feast and for once we're not stuffing our dragons." She bats her eyelashes as she smiles. Oh, she's innocent really. Truthfully. But now they don't have the restrictions of Weyrlinghood upon them, and Jhei shifts next to R'nel, shall we?"

R'nel steps back from Minayi and off from the podium with gift and knot in hand, stopping mearly to turn and see Jheina next to him. He grins a bit and extends his arm. "M'lady?" He chuckles, watching as the other weyrlings disperce from the stage, too… some in pairs, some not. Perrinth is trying to look like a good boy. Really. But we all know he's failing as he shoves back at the gold sitting next to him. « Poke. Pokepoke. I am behaving! See?» He's just sitting their poking, afterall. Nelly chuckles a bit at Jheina and nods. "Feasting for the dragons are over. They can go feed their guts whenever they please." He waits on Jheina before he goes to steer them towards Elara to greet the Fortian Weyrwoman. Respectful protocol, afterall, isn't it?

Wiyaneth echoes Pagnisath's bugle, rising to her feet and spreading her wings wide. Another group of young dragons has found their wings, and the cycle continues. Elara bounds to her feet and applauds loudly with a wide grin. The basket of apple blooms is picked up and she looks towards Talisyth in question before smiling at the approaching riders. "Congratulations Rider R'nel, Weyrwoman Jheina."

The weyrwomanly duties taken care of, Mianyi isn't adverse to setting into some partying of her own. The goldrider heads over to the Fortian weyrwoman, as the rest of the weyrleaders and organizers disperse as well to join in the party. "I'm so pleased you came," she says to the Fortian woman, catching her before someone else catches up to Mianyi and steals her attention away from the weyrlings and other guests.

Talisyth rumbles as she balls one of her forepaws, swatting at the brown again. She's a bit too dignified to get into a tumbling match, but she'll buffer the brown good with a warble. Jheina walks to one of the closer tables, her arm looped in R'nel's and she chuckles. "You know, it's been awhile since I've had something other than sandwiches when I have the time to get them down." She states as she curtsy's to Elara. Talisyth pauses long enough in her buffering of the brown to trill softly towards the Fortian Weyrwoman, her head bobbing in a gesture that could only be a nod.

Once close enough to Elara nad where she is sitting, Nelly gives a crisp salute. "Thankyou, Fort Weyrwoman." And now the brownrider is a bit formal, nodding a bit to the woman as he speaks to her. "Glad you could make it to the graduation, aswell…" He affirms Mianyi's words, though Mianyi's probably mean more then his own, since the two Weyrwomen know each other. He turns a bit and looks at Jheina before nodding. "Same here. Talk about a crash diet for Weyrlings." He's not paying attention to Perrinth, but the brown squeals noisily as one of Talisyth's hits makes contact and the brown makes a run for it, trying to figure out the closest way to Nelly without knocking over tables and people. « Meanie.»

Elara grins at Mianyi, "I am too! It was a wonderful ceremony. Very simple, I like that. Gets people to the party quicker." She smiles again to Jheina and returns the curtsy before she lifts a delicate apple bough and offers it to Talisyth. It's up to the gold how she wants to take it, be it on her muzzle, in a talon, or any other way she may think of to hold the delicate blooms. She then returns R'nel's salute, "Elara," she introduces herself with a kind smile. "Glad to be here." It's clear the new riders are eager to get to the food, so Elara turns a bit to face Mianyi so the other riders don't feel they have to stick around - unless they want to.

"Well, I think we'd all rather enjoy a party than sit around for a long time," Mianyi says, grinning and shrugging at the compliment about the ceremony. Really, who wants to listen to someone talk for hours on end? A glance goes to the pair of R'nel and Jheina. Huh. Imagine that, someone can actually stand Jheina enough to be around her. An assistant steward rushes up to Mianyi, "Excuse me," she says to Elara, turning to listen to the man's message before she turns to Elara with an apologetic look, "I'm sorry, I'll be back in just a few…" Scoooot.

Mianyi walks over to the Commons Cavern.

«Am not. You pushed.» Talisyth states her point simply as the gold bunches up before taking to the sky, looking for a nice and sunny ledge. Yeah, she's a sun whore. "Talisyth says that blossom is for me." Jheina states softer than she usually does, reaching out for the blossom, as she shakes her head gently. "She has her own ways, sometimes." Is said in the way of an apology, and Mia is noted running off. "But I thank you for coming too." Yeah, she's still a little awkward around strangers..

Elara smiles and hands the bloom over to Jheina, "No apology needed," she says with a smile, hearing the unspoken in the spoken. "Excuse me," the Weyrwoman says, moving through the croud to someone else she recognizes.

Elara climbs atop Wiyaneth, using the straps as handholds. The golden dragon watches her rider closely.

Wiyaneth takes off from the Main Clearing.
