Eastern Weyr - Weyrleader and Weyrwoman's Offices
Rukbat is just beginning to set, her light just starting to fade, when Fi's gold Belie arrives with a missive for Miyan asking her to attend the WeyrWoman at her earliest convenience. Now Fi sits, making careful notes as she goes through the day's paperwork and generally being Fi-like.
Miyan is quick to make her way to Fi's office, hair tied up in a runner's tail and sporting the wing uniform for once. There are several streaks of mud that crawl across the cloth, and a few more that lay at awkward angles on her face. "Sharding dirt…." She rubs her cheek with a sleeve and wrinkles her nose before knocking on the door and poking her head in. "Hey Fi!"
"It opens." Fi looks up to smirk at Miyan, "Come on in, Miyan." She closes the folder she had open and reaches for another, "And tell me… about Phantasm Wing."
"And here I was hoping you were going to let me drag you somewhere for dinner." Miyan smiles over at Fi before slipping inside and making her way over to the Weyrwoman's desk. She drops into a chair, brushing a few stray strands from her face before pursing her lips. "Tell you about Phantasm Wing….The glasscrafters are doing well, the beastcrafters are requesting stronger fencing because some porcines are being rebellious," which might explain her current state, "Or did you mean in a more general way?"
"Perhaps after we talk." Fi leans forward on her elbows, actually smiling. Perhaps she likes the idea of dinner. Then she makes a slight motion with one hand, "I meant more general. How is the wing doing, how do you feel with the wing. Do they respect you?"
"After we talk then," Miyan smiles before leaning back in the chair and considering the question for a moment. "It's doing well. I'm still trying to work on making the communication between our riders and other crafters more effective, but it's getting there slowly. They seem to respect me more now than they did before I had Lyria." As for how she feels with the Wing, "Maybe it's that my image has changed, or maybe just that I myself feel more comfortable with juggling my duties now. It's been a tough road, but I've finally grown used to it I think."
"And with the shift in Ur'con's position?" It's a hard question for her to even ask, and Miyan certainly knows that, "Do you feel that they would respect you to lead them?"
Miyan bites her bottom lip at the question, considering it for a moment before letting out a small sigh. "It's been hard for us to adjust, that I can't deny. But things are slowly coming together. You know better than anyone how long he's been with the wing and how they look up to him….I'm not sure that I'm at that same level yet." The glasscrafter takes a deep breathe, closing her eyes. "On that same note, I do believe that they would continue to respect me, yes."
Fi swallows gently in her throat, "I'm not sure anyone is, but I do think, S'rok and I think, that you're our best choice for replacing him at this time. Would you be willing to accept the wingleader's knot?"
Miyan remains silent for several long moments, though her eyes remain on Fi. "If you are sure….If you and S'rok, rather, are sure that you would be alright with this decision, then I'd be more than willing to accept the position." Yes, Miyan knows how hard this is on the Weyrwoman, and she shows it plainly with both her words and expression.
Fi has the wingleader's knot, that's proof enough of the situation, it seems, and she passes it across to Miyan, "Congratulations, Wingleader Miyan. Your extra paperwork will be sure to arrive in no time." The corner of her mouth manages a small smile, "I'm sure you'll do quite well."
Miyan accepts the know with a crooked grin, slipping off her Wingsecond's knot and replacing it with the new one. "Thanks, Weyrwoman Fi. Hopefuly I will." She leans forward then, and slides back her chair. "Now….about dinner. Can I drag you outside?"
Fi slides several thick folders across the table towards Miyan, "Your orders, requests, and transfer papers. As to dinner… mayhaps. It's been a long day."
Miyan takes the folders, pulling back the cover of one to peek at the contents before closing it and slipping them under one arm. "Isn't it always a long day? Besides, Lyria's been wanting to see you." The greenie slides back her chair to stand up and stretch. "How about in an hour or two? I guess I do have to clean up and look over this stuff first anyhow."
Fi inclines a small nod, "I think I'd like that. Might take my mind off of, well, all this." She gestures at the files, "I should at least have finally gotten Tza's latest clutch situated…" She sorts through the paper, the pulls out a couple of thinner personnel folders, "These should be coming your way here in a couple of weeks."
"Perfect! It'll be a girl's dinner, J'yn can fend for himself for a bit." Miyan grins and wipes a bit more dirt off of her cheek. "Some time away from all of that will be good for you." The woman's green eyes move to the smaller folders then and she tilts her head, "Any particularly interesting ones heading my way that I should watch for?"
Fi gives a slight shake of her head, "They're all at least senior apprentice, so they'll be able to fall in pretty quick. You may have to teach them our paperwork system, but otherwise you should be good. I was planning on heading out soon, so just give me some time to shower and we can do dinner… where were you thinking?"
"Shouldn't be too bad then, good." As for where to eat…Miyan considers for a moment and then gives a small shrug. "Lunar Shoal? Unless you have somewhere more exciting in mind, then I'm all ears. Let's skip the caverns though. I feel like that will take too much socializing." A pause. "Or we can always go up to the garden terrace."
