A Quick Klah

Eastern Weyr - Commons Cavern

A grand stairway leads downward into the cool rock of the commons cavern, a place for socializing and relaxing, as well as an area that provides solid shelter from the seasonal storms of this area. One of the few caverns at Eastern Weyr, the rock here has been worn away by centuries worth of water movement, leaving a nearly glass smooth polish over much of the room. Rocky shelves line the walls on which electric lights covered with paper lanterns rest, providing adequate illumination for the area. High above are further light fixtures, enabling a wide range of lighting options here. A natural pool occupies half of the far end of the cavern and is supplied with heated water piped in by an ingenious techcrafter. All about the room are balconies of rock with stairs leading to them and small dumbwaiters for the purpose of delivering food and drink to their heights.

It would seem that the blue rider has been up for awhile, his jacket is unbuttoned, his gloves sit on the table partially hanging over the edge while a plate with a half eaten meal shares the space with a glass of redfruit juice. After a few hours of sweeps broken only by the occasional sighting of wild wherries have left him tired and somewhat hungry though from his picking at his food one would think he wasn't interested in eating. K'saw had hoped that he'd have had a call to rescue some beautiful lady in distress who would be grateful for his saving of her life but the closest he saw was a distressed herdbeast, not exactly high adventure.

Yeralla comes in after a long day in the weaver complex. She moves over to get something to eat and she looks around for an open spot. She spots one by K'saw and she gives him a smile, "Hello there, mind if I sit down there?"

Fi is dressed, as always, in her white Terra Wing uniform (ignore the desc). Her first stop is the klah pot, pouring herself two mugs before she turns, scanning the crowds until she finds empty seats where K'saw sits and heads that way. She doesn't even ask before plopping into a seat, "Bluerider." She takes a long slug off the klah and lets it out as a sigh, "How are things with you?"

K'saw looks around to see who had spoken then smiles as he spots Yeralla, "Please make yourself comfortable, there's plenty of room. Done for the day are you or are you going to have to go back to work once you're done with your meal?" He doesn't look down at his plate but his fork seems to be making swirling patterns with the left over food, maybe an artist in waiting or just a tired rider trying not to fall face first into his food? He gives a salute to Fi, "Weyrlady how are you and Tzavayth? They're good ma'am, just a little tired and hungry; Atzricath has fed and he's relaxing as his meal digests."

Yeralla smiles, "Thank you. I'm all done for the day. Spent the day making some new cloth on one of the power looms." She gives a salute to Fi as well, "Good evening Weyrwoman." She takes a drink of her klah before she starts to eat.

Fi sucks down more klah and shrugs, "More paperwork to manage yet before I get to retire, but soon, hopefully. Tzavayth is well, as always, and lording it over the rest. I think she got one of the browns to bring her dinner again. I'm glad Atzricath is well. He's grown into a fine blue. And how is your craft treating you?" She inclines a nod to Yeralla, "Journeywoman. Eastern's duties to your hall."

K'saw nods his head at Yeralla's explanation of the new cloth, "Sounds interesting, is the craft planning on creating some new outfits with it or are you all just experimenting?" He turns to Fi with a smile then laughs as Atzricath responds to his 'forwarding' of the weyrwoman's comments, "He says of course he has, he's well cared for by me and besides everyone knows that blues are the best of all the colors! I'm glad I'm not stuck with all the paperwork you have ma'am, not quite sure how well I'd do at it or how long it would take before I tossed the lot into the fireplace." This last is spoken with a smile as he finishes off his juice moving his glass out of the way as he picks up this gloves and tucks them into his belt.

Yeralla smiles, "Oh I'm planning to make some outfits with it. Some fresh autumn and winter designs for both men and women." She says in between bites. "Thank you. It's been a pleasure to work here on behalf of the Weaver's Craft."

Fi chuckles darkly, "Blues are fine beasts indeed. You notice Tzavayth does flirt with them as well. As to the paperwork, it's just dealing with promoting Tzavayth's last clutch. And Tzenxineth's isn't too far behind, a lot of planning to do. The fireplace is tempting some days, though." She takes another slug of klah and glances at the Weaver, then back to K'saw. Clothing… really isn't the Weyrwoman's interest, but she manages a polite, "Mmhmm."

"Well I'll have to have a look at what you create Yeralla if that's ok with you, might even order something as my wardrobe is getting a little threadbare and needs replacement." K'saw stops a laugh midway through as Atz passes on another gem of wisdom "Atz says that of course she does, she recognizes quality when she sees it!" This time he doesn't stop the laugh as he shakes his head, "There is no shame in him thats certain though I have to agree he is one very handsome fellow even if I say so myself! I don't envy you the paperwork ma'am, but I suppose it has to get done at some point."

Yeralla smiles, "I'd be happy to show you some of example. The weaver complex here is is very well equip." She chuckles a little bit, "Paperwork is the bane of those in positions of leadership. Thankfully the amount of paperwork I have to do is limited."

"Don't I know it." Fi sips more coffee, then nods, a small smirk, "She says they're beautiful, but none will catch her unless they strive more than she thinks they can. She also thinks I should turn the paperwork into an art project."

K'saw laughs at the words from the gold, "well that might be an idea at least it would look pretty, and not be just filed away to gather dust." He turns to Yeralla and nods, "That would be great I'll have to see when we can get together to create something wonderful for my wardrobe." He stands and places juice glass on the tray with his plate and cutlery, "will well I need to go take care of Atz, then I need to take care of myself." He turns and gives Fi a salute and then gives Yeralla a bow and a smile before heading to the containers for dirty dishes then out to the bowl.

Yeralla nods, "I look forward to it." She finishes off her meal, "Of course. Have a nice night." She takes a slow sip of her klah, "An interesting solution to paperwork."

Fi drains the last of the klah from her mug and chuckles, "She has many ideas for paperwork. Unfortunately, none of them get the orders made, the inventories cross-checked, or the wing assignments confirmed."

Yeralla takes another drink of her klah, "True enough, paperwork is like a sore toe, best to just tough it out until it goes away. Would you like something from the dessert table?"

Fi gives a slight shake of her head, "No thank you. I've got four more personel files to go through, then I'm going to sleep. What are your plans for the evening?"

Yeralla hmms, "After dinner I thought that I'd go sit in the garden for a bit and perhaps work on some fresh clothing designs before I headed to bed myself."

Fi rolls the cup between the palms of her hand, "Well… do enjoy that. The garden is lovely this time of turn, the storms will be starting soon, though."

Yeralla nods, "Yes it is very lovely here. Oh I'm used to them. I used to live not to far from here."

Fi nods and gets to an easy stand, "I do hope you enjoy your evening. I have Weyrlings to disperse."

Yeralla stands up as well, "It's as nice to meet you Weyrwoman. I hope that your evening will be pleasant as well."

Fi passes a somewhat informal salute to the weaver, "A pleasure." Then she turns and slides out to her duties.
