Now What?

Eastern Weyr - Main Clearing

The clearing is immense, providing ample room for the landing and taking off of the majestic dragons that populate Eastern Weyr. The ground is packed dirt and a nuisance no matter what the weather. When dry, the clearing is full of dust, though when it rains it becomes a veritable mud pit. The main clearing of Eastern is an island of open space amongst thick jungle foliage, which threatens to encroach on the clearing and reclaim it every turn. Almost lost within the dense jungle-like setting are the caverns, pathways, and 'weyrs' that house the inhabitants of this slightly unconventionally organized weyr.

It's fifteen or so minutes after Ur'con makes his way out of the caverns that Fiona appears, her eyes casting around for the brown she knows is often in the clearing even as she takes the bronze down from her shoulder, "Odin, find S'dan. Please."

S'dan is sitting on his dragon's forearm, leaning on the dragon's upper arm. He's reading from a book.

Fiona smirks gently, "Or not. Go hunt, then." That order the bronze will follow, flitting quickly /between/ and leaving his bond to approach the venerable brownrider, "S'dan… Shards. You got a minute?"

S'dan rubs his eyes and looks up, then flips a colorful bookmark between the pages and closes the book. "Sure! Everything all right, Fiona?"

Fiona draws closer and it's clear she's been crying, or more specifically trying not to. "It's Kayla… well, no just Kayla… it's me too." She sighs, "And my ability to speak is rapidly fading. Kayla's got a crush on Ur'con… and I sort of do too… and I have no sharding clue what to do."

S'dan opens his mouth to speak, pulls in a breath and nods. "Well, I've…had…not always good relationships myself. I'm not the best one to come to in matters of the heart. But if two people are…compatible with each other, then they should…ah…be with each other. Other people shouldn't interfere. Ur'con is a charming fellow. Does he show a preference?"

Fiona moves to give Cyrilith's nearest bit a rub, "I have no sharding clue… my only relationship ended /very/ poorly. And I went in there to ask him to… shards, I don't know… be honest with Kay one way or 'tother and next thing I knew we were talking and I kissed him."

S'dan replies, "Well, a kiss is all right. No one is weyrmated…not that /that/ makes any difference to /some/", he adds with a certain amount of darkness and curl to the corners of his mouth.

Fiona sighs gently, "No… it's not like one of us is shacked up or anything. But I made a move on the guy I know my sister likes… and I've no sharding clue what to do now." She frowns slightly, "Did someone- no… that's too personal…"

S'dan gives his head a shake like there's something on the edge of his thoughts…Then its gone."Eh? Oh, well…did he seem like he was coming on to you or something? Or was it unespected and you kissed him?"

Fiona leans against Cyrilth, "You're asking me to read minds… he said he wasn't expecting it… but otherwise? Shards if I know. Maybe it's all in my head… he's the first rider who's ever been nice to me without trying to get into my pants who was close to my own age…"

S'dan says "Well, that you and your sister both like him could mean that the two of you are pretty much alike and it is sort of understandable that you would be attracted to the same person….How old is Ur'com?"

Fiona shrugs, "No clue… never asked… but he can't be older than thirtyish… he sort of… went to the communal baths naked the other day…" The tinges of pink and red return to her cheeks at that memory.

S'dan kinds of smiles at that and blushes a bit, too.

Fiona just blushes more when S'dan blushes, "See… the whole thing's got me all… discombobulated…"

S'dan says "Discom…bubba…lay-ted. I see," in a slow way. "So there's physical attraction…that's always nice but it is only part of what makes a good relationship."

"He-" Fiona stops and sighs, "He /listens/ and he /thinks/"

S'dan nods slowly at that. "That is…it is nice to be appreciated for those qualities. Not all girls do that. Not all guys do it. There are plenty who just…take."

Fiona nods almost sadly, "He actually /wanted/ to learn more about me… us… it's not like I didn't talk about both of us plenty."

S'dan says "Fiona, I'm not the best one to tell you about these things. My Father would be a much better person to help you. Or my brother. But if he wants to talk to you, then talk to him. But I think I'd also mention it to Kayla. Or not. That's the part I'm not sure of. See, I don't like to see anybody hurt. And I don't like to be hurt."

"That's exactly the problem." Fiona's voice keeps wavering between calm and uncertain, "If it were just me, I could just talk and see what happens… but with Kayla liking him, too… how the shard am I supposed to deal with that? I feel like I betrayed her just by kissing him… but at the same time I just want to do it again."

S'dan says "Maybe she'll lose interest or find someone else? We got a lot of nice lads around here."

Fiona shrugs and sighs, "Humans are way too sharding complicated… I should probably just wait and see what he does, shouldn't I? I mean, for all I know he's not interested in either of us…"

S'dan says "Well, if he's talking to you, he at least sounds interested!"

Fiona shrugs, "Maybe… maybe he's just nice and I'm reading too much. Thanks for listening, S'dan… I should go actually do my duties." And she does. At least machines don't talk back.
