Being Single might be Easier!

Monaco Bay Weyr- West Clearing

This clearing finds itself nestled into a hook of the pale sanded beach, between the wide mouth of the Paradise River to the east, Monaco Bay to the north, and the ancient rubble of the extinct vulcano. Warm sand can be found in this sheltered cove where the winds find it difficult to whip through, providing hot sand for basking dragons in nearly any weather, as well as shelter under a lip of stone, worn away by centuries of crashing waves, that juts from the main body of the Weyr. The land has been terraced up from both river and ocean, and a seawall put in place to protect the clearing from storm tides and heavy rains.

Sprawled out on the sand is Briari with her guitar and currently strumming along the strings. She is wearing her blue bikini with a sarong about her hips as well as a shawl along her shoulders. A small basket of food is nestled near by with a half bottle of fresh water and some bread still packed away inside. As she watches the waves crash in the distance, she quietly sings to herself as she fine tunes some lyrics.

Monaco Bay Weyr - West Clearing

Merius walks out from the craft clearing, a comically large amound of old wooden planks being lugged along, several under each arm. His destination appears to be the beach — at least, that's the direction of the deep gouges in the sand all of that wood is making in the seacrafter's wake. As he approaches the familiar figure of the blonde harper he stops and raises one hand to wave in greeting, promptly dropping that armload with a noisy clatter. Whoops. "…Hey, Briari.”

With a small knot of the Half Moon contingent here it may not be too surprising to see Trysta arriving upon a brown. Once he backswings she slides down and is striding towards Briari. "Bri!" she calls over. "Always lounging around eh? No hard work in the life of a Harper?" she teases her friend. Belatedly she notes the Seacraft and he's given a quick nod. "Hey there.”

At the sight of Merius, Briari laughs at his predicament and rises up to her sandaled feet. Her guitar is put off to the side and she heads over towards him. Reaching out to slide her hands about his waist, she leans in to give him a quick hug. "Hey you. You looking to build 'another' boat?" She asks curiously. "Maybe I can help you out this time and show you something that I'm not good at for a change." The sound of a dragon landing, followed by her best friend's voice causes her to lean back from the tall and imposing man. "Hey, Trysta! Wow. I have not seen you in.. a lifetime. What's up?”

"Eventually." Merry answers Briari in a grumble. "Slim pickings for scraps. This lot is all I've been able to gather in the last few days." He gives the dropped pile of wood an irritable kick, then wraps his free hand around her shoulders briefly. Once the unknown dragonrider approaches, Merry uses that same hand to give an ungainly salute since, though not a dragonrider himself, Merry is technically part of a wing. "Brownrider." Dark eyes flicker back and forth between Briari and the dragonrider, and at the former's greeting he quickly corrects his greeting. "Trysta. Well met.”

"Well met…friend of Briari's." since she hasn't heard a name yet to be put to the tall man with the smith crafter build. "Not quite a lifetime, Bri." a smile is flashed towards her friend. "Building a boat? From scraps?" her gaze flickers between the two. "Is that safe?" since she knows little of boats or boat building she does have to ask this!
"This is Merius and he is a seacrafter apprentice. He likes to build boats. He built a glorious ship once that took us very far out to sea and in no way did the mast break and we got stranded for hours." Briari says with an assured voice, giving a firm nod. "Also, he's a really nice guy, great at darks and by far the most handsomest." She glances subtly to the man, trying not to crack up as she works her bottom lip with her teeth. "Merius, this is my best friend, soul mate, sister from another mister, Crystyne, who now goes by Trysta. We've stood together on the sands a few times. As you can see, her luck is far better than mine.”

"Just a skiff." Merius grumbles. That explains everything. "Something to sail on my own." He shrugs at Trysta's other question, but in point of fact, it is not very safe, since the last one broke while he and Briari were lost at sea. Merry will just go ahead and let Briari explain. "Well met, Trysta." He repeats, proof that proper socializing numbers among his many skills. He nods along as Briari lists them. "I'm also really good at dancing." He adds, deadpan.

Skiff or boat it clearly doesn't mean any difference to Trysta who merely nods at Merius' distinction. "Well nothing bonds to people closer than not being stranded for 'marks." a firm nod is given. "Dancing is where the money is, no doubt." she agrees. "And it's not luck as much as I was in the right place.”

"Merius is not a great dancer. He has banged my feet up quite a bit, and I think people tend to throw money at him to stop." Briari leans against the tall man as she toes the planks on the ground. "So, what's up Trysta? What brings you by Monaco? I thought I saw Sundari and D'ryl dropping in as well earlier but I have not said Hi yet.”

"A dancer is only as good as his partner." Merius intones, his voice dripping with gravitas. His face is still blank but a close look would reveal an amused twinkle in his eyes. He looks carefully at Trysta's shoulder knot, then glances back at Briari. "Are they Half Moon riders, too?" Merry frowns thoughtfully as he notes, "I've seen some others around the docks, lately.”

"They are." replies Trysta. She herself leans against her brown who is curled up small ( as small as a brown dragon can get) and dozing. "Just thought I'd finally come for a visit, Bri, since it /has/ been some time since I've seen you. What's new? Whatcha been doing? Got your masters yet?”

Briari gives a shake of her head. "No, I don't think I am any where near obtaining my Masters. But, I am working on a number of projects for Harper Hall and taking some time to myself. Recently me this big lug here. I think we're dating? I don't know what you call this. We hang out and make fun of each other, so, it's been interesting." Reaching out, she takes the man by the hand, squeezing fingers together. "But I've just been keeping it easy and keeping my head down. Nothing exciting for a change.”

Merius's dark eyes grow almost hilariously wide at Briari's words. "…Dating?" He squeaks out in a tiny voice that sounds extra funny coming out of a giant man. A few attempts are made to clear his suddenly scratchy throat. "Yes, well…" He squeezes Briari's hand back, quickly, but his palms are suddenly sweaty. The planks still tucked under his arm fall to the ground with the others, and he takes his hand back to reach down and retrieve all of those wood scraps. "I'd better be getting these, umm… …Where they need to go." He stands up so suddenly that one or two of those pieces of wood smack him slights on the face. "Briari, Trysta." He gives a polite nod to each, then starts high-tailing it in the vague direction of the docks.

Trysta laughs softly at the fleeing back of the man who is high-tailing it so quickly away. "Well..um, perhaps you need to go a littler slower in defining your relationship Bri." she jokes softly, eyes twinkling with amusement. "Tis why I stay single. Easier that way sometimes! Less misunderstanding."
