Baker/Mindhealer

Eastern Weyr - Beach

To either side, as far as the eyes can see, sand stretches out with darkling black fingers towards the caress of the brightly blue ocean that encroaches and retreats from the shore in gentle lapping waves. The jungle is dense, although it relents and thins along the border between sand and forest, and there is a clear pathway leading back towards the weyr. Animals and birds can often be heard rustling amid the bright foliage of the jungle.

A winding pathway from the sandy beach to the clearing is lit by paper lanterns enclosing electric lights, softly glowing and illuminating the pure black sand walk way. Springtime has arrived on Eastern Weyr, the flowers budding with wild abandon and all about new growth of the jungle seems to be the theme both in the animal and plant kingdoms.

Mahl and Cenath, for Weyrlinghood's gliding training sake are making good use of new freedoms in relation to curfew and distance from the barracks. This fine, twinkling eve, the pair have taken to the beach to rekindle the fond memories of starlit bonfires. There isn't a cloud in the sky, warm crisp air settled, with little to no breeze. Not far from the main path, but far enough from jungle shrubbery, a large teepee of small logs is set ablaze. Reds and oranges scream towards the skies, black and filled with millions of luminescent holes. A humm from the jungle is filled with rustles, chirps and howls, cratered full moons soaring high above. The greenie pair are cuddled up near the warmth, leaning in and wrapped around one another in what very well could be considered a melancholy silence, though by the look of the girls eyes inner-dialogue is surely occurring. A crackle and flicker of the fire, Mahl sips on juice, a taste she is tiring of, much preferring the fermented grape version. She sighs and scritches.

This fine evening as many do finds the weyrs baker walking slowly along the beach looking out to the waters near him, not paying much attention to where he goes.

Tequoia is wandering along the beach the two seeming to be in silent communication, or at least silent. The fire catches the greens attention and there's a light chuff as attention goes to Cenath as well. Teq is kicking at the water herself, and only looks towards the fire after a gentle nudging from Ylvath.

Mahlia and Cenath continue to lean, the slightly injured from collision with ground while gliding side faced towards the darkness, potentially the direction in which one baker may be arriving from. Hopefully the roaring flames caution him to take heed, otherwise one dragonet might be jumping out of her hide. As Teq and Ylvath near, the focus is shared and the night cloaked emerald Seracenath perks wedged head towards water-splashing darkness, Mahlia's attention follows.

Tarrin glances up at the light catches his attention and smiles as spotting the Cenath and her rider and smiles softly, "Hey there you two." and moves to approach, seeing Tequoia and Ylvath approaching as well he nods in greeting, "Hey there."

Tequoia gives a wan little smile as she approaches. Ylvath chuffs in greeting. "Hi." she murmurs and lets out a sigh. Teen has been a bit moody of late, not that she's said anything at all to anyone. Course word may have gotten out that she snapped at T'us for thinking he's so /special/ with having troubles with his dragon.

Mahlia notes quickly that a weird air seems to be sweeping across the Weyr.. well a few riders and weyrlings at least. The same mild smile is sent Teq and Ylvath's way "Hi" the girl states unable to hide a tone dry as kindling, Seracenath saves face by crooning and outstretching sinewy neck towards clutchsib and lifemate first, then Tarrin, taking time to linger of his sweet scent as Mahlia looks towards the gent, eyes swirling emerald ember greens.

Tarrin notes the feel of tension in the air and glances between the pair of weyrlings, "Everything ok everyone."

Tequoia blinks a little at Mahlia and her dry tone and then she's nodding to Tarrin 'Yeah, doing good." she notes quietly and then settles down by the fire, while Yvalth continues up onto a bit of a sand dune before lying down and surveying the area. "You?"

Mahlia queries with a softer and slightly apologetic tone "I dunno guys.. I've been starting to wonder if part of being found is feeling lost some times.. all this change and growth and sharing. It's like I hardly know who I am any more besides drills and training and weyrling schedules." Cenath warbles a deep resonating rumble, pointed snout reaching to meet greenie sis. Mahlia shrugs and tries to shake it off "Sorry.. too much time to ourselves I think. How's everyone enjoying this beautifully starry night and lovely change in weather?"

Tarrin turns to approach Mahlia and says, "I don't know Mahlia. But you are still who you where before just more this this beauty here." he says, "People like me are lost a bit."

"Are we really the same though?" Tequoia asks after a moment. "We really haven't change?" she adds with a bit of a frown. "Even if others say we have. Or are different or something?"

Mahlia looks up from the coil that is Cenath "I mean I couldn't imagine my life without her now. ." the dragon croons "I feel like so much has changed since then.. mostly for the better.. but there are those things about who we were that will never be the same." She sounds a bit like a teen again herself.

Tarrin says softly, "I really don't know what to say to the two of you, in a way I envy you both but will never know…."

Tequoia sighs a little "And then with having her, and no I wouldn't ever want anything to happen to her, no matter what I say, but well. When you get told that you have someone and will never be alone and well sometimes you feel so alone and so guilty and well…"

Mahlia adds to the frown crowd, the mixed feelings, expressed so well by Tequoia "Different.." she adds hoping that does justice to finishing the sentence " I definitely feel different. It's like Seracenath and I are melding, her presence a whole different component to the complexity of figuring out some semblance of a sane existence.." the depth of an eternal bond deep like a crevice reaching to the center of Pern.

Tarrin says softly, "Well I wish I could help you two figure it this out but…" he shrugs, "All i will say is what i have observed form others…. you two will always have someone who loves you. Other then that…."

Tequoia wrinkles her nose a bit "A dragon loving you isn't the same thing as a person." she notes softly. She nods a little to Mahlia "Yeah, different." she purses her lips a little "Are we different Tarrin? So different that you would avoid us if you had been going out with us or anything?"

Mahlia ayes with a nod of her head, and then as if her own confused heart were speaking Tequoia mentions feelings of avoidance. Rather than sulking, she buries herself in dragon-hide "I do feel so very fortunate to have this bond.. seems no human could ever exude the same connection.." she awaits Tarrin's response, poor baker, he sure walked in to a hot mess.

Tarrin looks between the pair and says in response to Tequoia with out any hesitation, "Not at all, any distance may have came from not being able to have contact with ya, not form any chance i have seen." he looks between the pair of young ladies, "you are both lovely young ladies and a pleasure to be around, but most folks seem to try to stay back from weyrlings ta let that bond you have grow." he grins, "And you are busy most the time so it is hard to catch you all when you aren't exhausted."

Tequoia gives a little nod "Thinks have been really busy, sometimes to wonder that we have time to even sleep." she notes after a moment. "But that doesn't mean someone shouldn't just head into an opposite direction when they see you, should they?"

Mahlia shrugs "I dunno.. fortnights and fortnights of not seeing someone you used to see every day" could it be true, losing a love she'd once known is actually getting to her a little bit? She manages a warm grateful smile, fond but reserved as she reflects upon Tarrin's compliment "Thank you Tarrin.. it means a lot for you to say that.. but I'm with Teq on this one.. I dunno if it's easier being avoided to allow all this time and space for the lifetime of bonding ahead of us.." and in their heads.. and senses.. almost all of the time. "Guess it'd be easier if there was room to move on.. but all those feelings are still too much" speaking as if grumbling greenie isn't right there.

Tarrin shakes his head, "no it doesn’t, you have to think though, maybe it isn't you that has changed all that much, maybe it is them." he gives a half smiles and says, "It is very possible that they just can't handle that with your beauties here." he indicates the lovely pair of greens , "that they aren't the center of your worlds anymore." he smiles, "Neither of you need anyone else. you can stand on your own, If you have a partner, the are you partners but you will always have your lifemates in your life now."

Tequoia pouts a little "But what if I like needing someone?" she murmurs softly. "I don't want to stand on my own. Why should I have to just because I have a dragon?" Yes, she's whining a bit there and taking things in likely the wrong light. She does look at Ylvath, dark and different and then sighs. She looks over at Mahlia and nods "It hurts to not be with someone you want to be with, and even more so when they don't seem to want to be with you."

Mahlia nods "True that is.. they definitely have to have changed quite a bit as well.. doesn't make it any easier." Seracenath starts to stir, head craning towards Tarrin as Mahlia works on giving her some love. Those big green eyes glitter, meeting Tequoia's gaze, half misty from tear,s half from that communication thing as Mahl tries to explain this longing to someone who is incapable of truly understanding such feelings at this point. "This whole standing on our own this is very confusing.. hopefully some day we end up happy as bubblies like S'dan and Ur'yu" another sigh.

Tarrin nods and says, "You have to think of your lifemates for now. keep them happy and growing and they will help you though it. i am sure both of you will find guys more then willing to be with you when you are ready." he almost sounds as if he would be willing to be that guy but…

But he is soooo oooold. Teq grumps, young teen doesn't wanna be reasonable. "I don't want to find someone different. I want my old Shi back." hmmph. Gotta love hormonal girls? Ylvath chuffs softly from her dune and Teq looks up at her and then sighs softly and shakes her head "Oh, whats the point anyways?"

Mahlia hurrumphs and pulls outstretched legs to bent knees, feet firmly planted, arms wrapped around "There is solace in that dear Seracenath" she assures, loving the greenie like none other "I don't really even know what I want any more.. nor do I have the space and time to figure it out" she murmured, mostly underneath her breath. The fire starts to dwindle slightly, the flames no longer tearing through the night, the chill of spring nights taking hold. A hug between lifemates and Cenath croons to present company a slightly sore wobble to their feet for them both "Sorry to mope and run.. we should turn in if we're to catch any fresh kills from today's hunt.. then a soak.. and salve.. and oil" maybe they are quite the handful right now. "Goodnight dear friends.. thank you for the comforting presence."

Tarrin looks between the pair again and sigh softly, "Well give him time Tequioa, maybe he is trying to figure out things for himself, and needs some space. You know what they say, if you love something let it go. If it comes back it if yours forever…'

Tequoia makes another face "Yeah, I'm sure that was someone who tried to justify being dumped or something." She blows out her breath "I mean, if you had someone you liked IMpress, you wouldn't ignore them. So why should someone else?"

Tarrin says, "Because, they can't be with you for at least another half a turns or more at the soonest." he says seriously.

Only on her way out does Mahlia catch Tarrin's glance, she smiles softly and nods a farewell, feeling the sanguine shades rush to her cheeks she quickly gathers her things, including Seracenath and takes a few steps towards Teq before departing. Arms outstretch, offering an empathetic hug and looking at things brightly "I suppose at least they had an opportunity to look for justifications as to why they had been dumped.. love is such a fickle beast.. much like our lifemates in a way. Good to see you both.. truly.." she trails.. looking back just once towards Tarrin before slipping away in to the night.

Tequoia snorts "It's not like we were sleeping together or anything like that. So why should that make a difference? It's not like we're not allowed to talk. How lame." she picks up a small branch that's nearby that didn't quite make it into the fire and pokes at the dying embers. She looks over at Mahlia "Bye." She pauses and then sighs "I should get off too afore I get in trouble for staying out too late."

Tarrin nods and says, "Just don't take it to hard Tequoia, give him time and he will likely come around."

Tequoia nods softly and gives Tarrin a wan smile "Thank you." she notes as she glances at Ylvath who is already slipping down from her dune and heading back towards the barracks leaving Tarrin to keep up.
