Eastern Weyr - Commons Cavern

A grand stairway leads downward into the cool rock of the commons cavern, a place for socializing and relaxing, as well as an area that provides solid shelter from the seasonal storms of this area. One of the few caverns at Eastern Weyr, the rock here has been worn away by centuries worth of water movement, leaving a nearly glass smooth polish over much of the room. Rocky shelves line the walls on which electric lights covered with paper lanterns rest, providing adequate illumination for the area. High above are further light fixtures, enabling a wide range of lighting options here. A natural pool occupies half of the far end of the cavern and is supplied with heated water piped in by an ingenious techcrafter. All about the room are balconies of rock with stairs leading to them and small dumbwaiters for the purpose of delivering food and drink to their heights.

S'dan comes in singing, "In the good old summertime, In the good old summertime…!" He seems to be in a good mood.

Jeniosa isn't long after S'dan's entrance, holding the hand of a certain little toddler girl that's trying her darndest to wriggle away from her momma's grasp. "Coo…kie!" That's the adamant word from the nearly turn and a half Rysha as little arm squeezes around her stuffed feline's neck. "Yes Rysha, yes, cookie, you can have a cookie when we get inside." Momma is trying to get the child to lower her voice at least a tad as they enter the cavern. And so the missing pair of beastcrafter and daughter return to Eastern, finally, to cause mischief…or something like that.

S'dan is at the serving table. "Shards! AThat's a big salad!" he says with glee. Evidently his weyrmate's dislike of meats has lead Danny back to eating a bit healthier. The rider is tossing all kinds of nice, fresh veggies and things into his salad. Sliced black olives, tomatoes, avocado chunks, crspy tortilla strips for the crunch factor. "I'm gonna need a bigger bowl." Then he hears the magical word 'cookie'. He looks down the table. "We got cookies too?"

Cookies on a salad? Hmm, interesting concept there. Jeniosa manages to retain her daughter's hand across the cavern, only releasing the toddler once they're a safe distance from the exit and she doesn't have to worry about Rysha running out into the clearing where all the dragons land. Jeniosa has one thing going for her, though, and that's the fact that her blue firelizard pops out of between to hover just about Rysha, successfully distracting the little one while Momma can get stuff settled at a table. Finally she's ready to glance around while Rysha tries to grab at Azurite. Not too crowded at the moment, this is good. And S'dan's salad actually looks good to her, she might have to get herself one. "Or two bowls, hmm?" She calls quietly towards the rider before sweeping Rysha up into her arms, the kiddo squirming the whole time, and moving towards the serving table to see about something to eat…and hopefully a cookie for her daughter else the whole cavern will hear about it.

S'dan turns to see Jeniosa and smiles. "Hi there! How you and.." he looks around to catch sight of the little girl. "Oh, how cute!" he says softly with an honest, happy tone! "That's how mothers get back down in size after having a kid. They then chase afater them. Ah, yes. There are just too many good things for one bowl. Want to share? A second bowl would work fine for that."

"Coo..kie!" Apparently that's Rysha's favourite word today or something. Of course, as Jeniosa comes up next to the rider while holding her daughter, the stranger actually makes the little one hush and stare at the man with her wide green eyes. "Always chasin after her, she tires me so." But Jen doesn't seem too terribly upset by this fact. "Sure, but I need some protein too." And a poke from Rysha has Jen tilting her head down towards the girl. "And a cookie for Rysha." "Kitteh want too." That last one, yeah it's Rysha as she brings the purple stuffed feline up to her momma's face.

S'dan gives a warm chukle. "You know, Kitteh must have a cookie too but probably just a small one, right? Would that be all right, Mom? What is the cookie fancier's name again?"

Rysha hushes again after her statement that her stuffed feline has to have a cookie too, and the girl's staring at the big man again. Jeniosa ruffles soft auburn curls atop youngling's head. "Rysha it's okay. This is S'dan. S'dan, my daughter Rysha." Maybe the introduction will have the child's staring cease…eventually. Momma turns to the serving tables, settling some slices of roast beast and some mashed tubers on a plate. A second bowl is snagged as well for sharing of the salad. And last but not least, two cookies, one for Rysha, one for Kitteh.

S'dan steps back so he can give a little bow to the girl. "Very well met, young Rysha! What kind of cookies do you and your kitty like?" He winks at the mom.

Rysha listens to the man's question, her little ears focused on what he's asking as those wide green eyes go from rider to mommy and back. "Uncy Tarry's." Which means, yeah, she likely doesn't really have a preference, and even likelier that Tarrin tends to spoil his little 'neice'. Jeniosa smiles softly. "She likes anything Tarrin bakes." Smart kid, no? Rysha's squirming again, now, apparently she's done with being held, and Jeniosa tries her hardest not to let squirming toddler knock plate of food from her hand. "Rysha, be still for mommy, please?"

S'dan says "Indeed! My son like Tarrin's cookies, too. So do I!" He is very tempted to run his fingers through the little girls hair and ruffle up her curls but she's not his kid. "Why don't you set her down, Jeniosa? She's not going to be able to get into any more trouble than any other little one around here. And there are enough adults around here to watch out for her. Most folks do keep their eyes on the kids collectively. Yo want some grated cheese in your salad?""

Jeniosa is one of those token overprotective mothers, that's why she hasn't set the toddler down yet, But then she's getting, "Mama..down!" she gets from Rysha as S'dan mentions letting her down. Jeniosa holds on for a moment longer, but finally does agree to set the girl down. "Don't run off or no cookie." If that doesn't get the little one to stay right there with the adults, nothing will. "Grated cheese sounds lovely." Jeniosa's never really been this social before, but, well, she's obviously trying to set an example for her daughter and is trying to come out of her shell.

S'dan dishes some of that into the bowl. "Well, I think at this point we are going to need to mix them together…" But by now his bowl is almost overflowing and there is no way to mix things together. He looks rather perplexed as he stands there for e moment deciding what to do. Then there is a clunk on the table. He looks up and the opld Auntie who is working on the serving line just gives him a 'You men are so stupid' look and says. "Yer gonna need a bigger bowl!" S'dan blushes a bit and grins. "Thank you, Agnes," he says, just a little sheepish, and dumps everything into the bigger bowl to mix it together. "What kind of dressing do you like, Jeniosa?" Quick, change the subject! Recover!

Jeniosa can't help but stifle a giggle as the Auntie clunks a bigger bowl down for the wingleader. Rysha is, indeed, staying close, she doesn't want to miss out on her cookie. One small hand is fastened in a grip to her momma's pantsleg, the other holds that poor stuffed purple feline by its neck. But the toddler is quiet for the moment. "Dressing..Hmm, pretty much anythin really, thanks, just none of that kind with the moldy cheese in it." Yeah, she'll eat anything but bleu cheese.

S'dan picks out a nice, creamy dressing. He puts on a good amount, then mixes the salad goodies all together. "Would you all like to come eat at our Wing's table?" he invites. Most of the riders are gone now and there is plenty of room. He gets a couple of forks and the two regular salad bowls and carries them in one hand as he takes the big bowl with the salad in the other hand.

Jeniosa considers the offer, and it makes sense to her since they're sharing the salad and all. "Umm..sure, I suppose that'd make the most sense huh?" She gives a brief smile and moves to follow the wingleader towards his wing's table, Rysha still attached to her pantsleg makes the beastcrafter's progress a bit slow, but they will make it there eventually. "I rarely even sit at my wing's table." Jen chuckles softly.

S'dan says "You're in the Deluge Wing, is it?"

Jeniosa shakes her head, settling the plates of meat and tubers and cookies on the table. "The crafters' wing, Phantasm. But my schedule's usually so different than the others're usually done by the time we get in for any of the meals." Well, not so much schedule conflict as the fact that Jeniosa's never really been a people person since arriving at Eastern. She's getting better though, really. She gets Rysha settled on a chair. Stay here with S'dan, Rysha, mommy has to go get our stuff." The toddler draws herself to her knees on the chair with the help of the table so she can have her vision above the tabletop rather than below as Jen moves away briefly to go retrieve her bag and the booster seat to place on Rysha's chair.

S'dan sets down the bowl. "She's going to get the important stuff," he says softly leaning over to Rysha. "The cookies!"

Jeniosa doesn't take too long, afterall the table where her stuff was was just over yonder a ways. She returns with her bag and the seat which gets slid under Rysha and Rysha gets her butt plopped into it. "There, no more knees on chair, you'll fall and get owwies." That seems to register and Rysha remains butt to seat as she situates 'Kitteh' on the table in front of her. "Mama cookie!" One track mind much? "Yes, yes, but don't you want some yummy tubers first?" Jeniosa asks of her daughter.

"No!" Is Rysha's response to her momma's offer of tubers before cookie. "Coo..kie!" Jeniosa scoops up a spoonful of the mashed tubers and gravy anyway. "If you dn't eat the tubers, I'm gonna feed them all to Kitteh." Mommy is trying, here, she wouldn't be a very good mom if she let the toddler have cookies before real food. "No!" Comes from Rysha again as Jeniosa brings the spoonfull towards the stuffed feline.

S'dan has just about hit that spot where little kids are cute and he starts in on his salad. He knows /he's/ going to get cookies anyway! But maybe he can set an example? Does that ever work? He thinks back and realizes that he didn't have many training experiences with his boys when they were Rysha's age. At that age they were both pretty much under the control of their mothers.

Jeniosa continues moving the spoon to the stuffed feline's mouth, and soon enough the ploy works and Rysha is intercepting that spoonfull as little hand reaches for the spoon, and promptly shoves the bite into her mouth. Jeniosa grins, she knew that would work. "You want some meat too Rysha?" And even before the toddler can answer, Jeni is cutting up bits of meat to offer the toddler.

S'dan keeps eating. From the corner of his eye he watches, hoping to learn something. Never know when this stuff might come in handy.

Jeniosa pushes a plate with little bits of the roast beast towards the girl, smiling as she gets her way, she also puts more tubers on the plate for Rysha. "I knew she'd eat once she got down the first bite and forgot about the you-know-what." And, with Rysha happily plucking a bit of meat in her finger and popping it into her mouth, Jeniosa can finally concentrate on her own meal. "That salad looks delicious, S'dan. Shall we see if it tastes as good as it looks?"

S'dan points at the salad with his fork, trying to dhew enough so he can swallow then talk. "Oh…inded! Has some of everything in it. Very tasty! Definitely not for little girls. Too good!" He munches down on another bite like he's really hungry. Then again, he probably is. He usually has just two meals a day and a couple of light snacks while flying on Sweeps. Still, his figure is healthy and trim so it must work for him.

Jeniosa will be happy if she can get Rysha to eat the meat and tubers served to her before havig cookies, the salad would be a bonus to have the toddler eat. Jeniosa's hungry, herself, as she serves herself up some of that salad and settles her bowl infront of her. She does watch her daughter a few seconds before she starts in on her own meal, chomping away at the salad's variety of tasty veggies. "Mmm, very good." She comments. Rysha is quiet as she eats, shoving meat piece after meat piece in her mouth. "Rysha, Love, slow down a little."

S'dan glances then looks over at Rysha. He watches her. "You know, chewing and then swallowing work very well."

Jeniosa grins a little as Rysha turns to look at the two adults. The toddler does slow down her shoveling, a little. Jeniosa, for her part, is enjoying the salad as she eats it slowly, chewing and swallowing and all that jazz. The beastcrafter slips a bit of veggies from the salad onto Rysha's plate, but they're promptly ignored.

S'dan is soon scraping his bowl clean. Let nothing come before a rider and his meal! Same as a dragon and his or her meal.

There's still more in the main bowl, Jeniosa didn't take too much, she's a light eater, how else is she supposed to retain her petite body. Plus she still has what meat and tubers Rysha doesn't eat. "Very good, thank you fer sharin it with me, S'dan." She says, her small bowl full almost gone.

S'dan looks to see what's left. From the doorway a voice of a young member of his Wing calls out."Hey, S'dan!" S'dan says in a regular voice, "Looks like there's some left. I must have really been hungry." Then he straightens up and says. "What?"

"We need you," the young man calls back.

S'dan raises a finger. "Be right there!" He gets up to take his bowl to the kitchen to be washed. "Thank you for joining me for lunch, Jeniosa! It was good to see you again. See you both soon!" He grabs a couple of cookies on the way out and meets up with his Wingman to take care of business.
