Monaco Bay Weyr is often considered a paradise resort Weyr because of its prime tropical location. Lightweight huts house many of the Weyrs residents in large clearings while colorful paper-lanterns light the sand walkways, showing the paths through lush jungle environment to the beautiful white and black sand beaches. Aside from a few cave-weyrs cut into the cliffside the only "permanent" structures are the caverns complex which includes the living caverns, the infirmary, the candidate quarters, the weyrling accommodations, and the large hatching complex.
The glorious spring and summer weather of the tropics reign supreme at Monaco; however, along with the location comes to a variety of storms, many causing widespread damage. Luckily, due to the low cost of materials for many of the dwellings in the area, belongings can simply be moved to the safety of the permanent weyr, and once the storms have ceased, it can be returned to cheaply rebuilt homes.
Due to its ideal weather, despite the storms, Monaco often plays host to injured persons of all sorts - holders, crafters, and riders- who are looking to recuperate in a pleasant locale. Monaco Bay Weyr is also the full-time host to a group of dolphineers who have chosen to work with the Monaco pod and is well known for both accurate weather observation due to Tempest Station on the abandoned Yokohama and Deluge orbiting stations, and responsive aquatic rescue teams.
The tropical landscape provides much of what the Weyr needs, and a few smaller holds provide some of the missing necessities. Everything else is traded for. The presence of wild felines allows riders to hunt, and the prized pelts are a great bargaining tool.

Building onto Monaco Bay Weyr is something we do with careful consideration. While it is possible to code a room for every pool, nook, and cranny, this doesn't always add to the RP value of a space. Posing around clunky code and excessive rooms can often detract from the RP experience.
Think about what kind of RP would take place in these rooms. Would people be talking to each other from one portion of the room to another? Can someone just as easily pose diving into a pool rather than having a coded pool object which creates added spam? Remember you can always pose in what is supposed to be there!
We also have code options outside of digging extra rooms, one is our TP room which is a great spot for areas that are not used frequently enough to be hardcoded into the weyr, and features lots of unique spaces already if you're looking for something different to spice up your RP. We also have code that will change the location of a person in the room and the description that they see without having to make anyone walk through a ton of exits to get there.
This isn't to say that you cannot add to public areas. This is often helpful and encouraged! If you've thought about the space you feel is needed, let us know! Command: +mbwhelp candidacy
At Monaco Bay, much like everything else, we have a very laid-back approach to candidacy. The search begins the day eggs appear on the sands, and while search riders will be out in force, any weyrbred child of the appropriate age is allowed - and encouraged - to ask to stand without waiting for a search dragon. Most candidates will continue with their normal activities pre-search: apprentices will still be apprentices, cooks will still be cooks, and so on. Those who wish a change, or who have been brought in from out-Weyr, will, of course, be accommodated based upon aptitude and openings. The main changes in the life of a candidate are twofold: classes and rider-shadowing. Every evening, all candidates will be expected to attend a series of classes designed to teach a potential new weyrling everything he might need to know to be successful as a rider. Likewise, once a sevenday each candidate will be paired with a rider and will shadow that rider in all of her duties— whether that be transporting cargo, delivering messages, ferrying people, or carrying out diplomatic relations. These experiences are designed to help candidates understand what being a rider at Monaco Bay will entail as far as work and time are concerned.
The usual rules for candidacy still apply: while you may travel outside of the weyr with a rider escort (PC or NPC), you are expected to behave as a representative of Monaco Bay. Additionally, candidates may not engage in blatant public intoxication or criminal behavior. While sexual relations are discouraged, they are not forbidden, but impregnation of another individual is highly frowned upon — and pregnancy is grounds for dismissal. Candidates are not required to wear any particular uniform but must wear a single white loop as a knot to indicate their status at all times.

Monaco Bay will accept applicants from all crafts of all ranks with their craft-staff's blessing. Crafters of all ranks may join Phantasm wing whether or not they have a dragon.

If you're looking for a fun, tight-knit, active Weyr, look no further. /However/ there are a few little things that come with joining. If you're not a rider, just page the currently on staff members and we'll help you as quickly as we can.
For riders (or non-riders if no staffers are on) please @mail all of staff with your request to move to our area, which wing you'd like to join, and why. If you are interested in any sort of position (WLM/AWLM/WiL/etc) please see +MBWhelp applying and include this at this time so we can take it into consideration when considering your transfer request. Please, also remember that you will need to be removed from your old Weyr or Weyrhold's knot before you can be added to ours.

Leadership within Monaco Bay Weyr is a bit loose: ICly it is currently lead by Weyrleader and Weyrwoman . However, they do not act unilaterally. Due to the stress traditionally put on the Weyrleading pair, the Weyr has taken up the slack that the stress causes and the result is that there is more of a Weyr council than a true WL/WWship. The WL and WW serve as 'Chairmen of the Board' to the council that publicly serves as their advisers, while privately, they serve as friends that help make the decisions when things are difficult. ICly, this Council is sat in on by all the members of the Weyr management: the Headwoman, the Wingleaders, the Weyrhealer, the Weyrharper, the Steward and so forth. OOCly, leadership is made up by those listed on the 'MBW .who/admins'. These OOC admins are generally referred to as the Weyr staff and will be able to help you with any information or problems you might have. While they do not have total authority in the Weyr they are a part of the leadership here. To become a member of this OOC staff, simply RP your best, be active and express an interest in helping out. We have an activity requirement for all staff members. You must show up on 'activecheck MBW' to be eligible to be a staff member. Staff members that consistently fail to meet this requirement will be temporarily removed from staff until their activity level rises again. If you are planning a vacation or know you will be absent, please contact the rest of the staff. Exceptions are possible if advance notice is given.

Being the first to install the Global Weather system, there are still some bugs with it being worked out, but it seems to be working out well enough.
We have access to 2 commands from anywhere on the mush, but the room you are in will determine what you get as an answer. All rooms in the Monaco Bay Weyr need to have the following set

This will insure that you are getting weather for this zone and not from time zone 1 or 0.
+Today
This will give you the current time, month, season, year, moon phase, tides and weather message all rolled into one.
+Forcast
This will give you the current weather patterns all over the mush as well as they current time in each of these zones.

Command: +mbwhelp weyrling
Weyrlinghood should be a fun time to explore your character and your new dragon. To help make it so, we've got a few general rules.
1) Please do not wander far from Weyrling Caverns, Exercise Yard or Commons Cavern until you have been notified otherwise. Typically you will gain freedom to move about the weyr after the first few IC weeks, when the bond between dragon and rider has grown strong and the young weyrlings are capable of extended waking periods.
2) No Sex. We aren't going to do bed checks, but ICly anything that makes your young dragon question whether or not your total and undevoted love lies with them is a /bad/ thing. Remember they are in effect very young children who can get very jealous. ICly your weyrlingmasters would be watching very carefully for any signs of this so if you do feel it necessary to RP something of this magnitude out (such as having your gold firelizard's flight while you are a weyrling), have it okayed by the Weyrlingmaster well ahead of time.
3) No leaving the Weyr with or without your dragon until you are cleared to do so. No buts. This is especially so if the distance is great. If you must RP on the other side of Pern, don't. It may seem harsh, but it will cause your young dragon great upset. By the time they are flying, you may travel to other areas with an escort for /brief/ visits, but that is all until you are cleared for /between/.
4) No fighting or drinking. Yes I know, you can get away with that some of the time, but keep it IC. Your dragons would be upset by your state of mind and might attack someone or if you pass out from being drunk might go between on you thinking your gone forever. Keep it IC if you are going to break the rules, and please be nice to your Weyrlingmasters.
5) ICA = ICC. You are welcome to break any of the above rules, or any OTHER rule you can think of— but remember, IC-actions == IC-consequences. We love rule-breakers, especially if it's for an interesting plot, but please only do so if you are also interested in playing out the consequences.

The wings of Monaco Bay Weyr
Joining a wing or leading a wing in Monaco Bay Weyr has little to do with color but rather with IC ability and OOC planning. Any color is allowed in any wing as all colors are needed. On camera wings are wings designed to foster group activity.
Please take a few minutes to read through the wings and familiarize yourself with what they do and what uniforms you can identify them by.
