Arrogant Autumn Leaf Gold Talisyth

Dragon Description

Talisyth.jpg

Nature's truest gold, the brilliant, deep hues of autumn leaves lacquered with morning dew dapple the satin hide of this queen. Deep, dusky ochre filters over her delicate muzzle and cheeks, her eyeridges and headknobs filigreed with the brighter shade of daybreak. Her regally defined neck gives way to a formidable chest of rich sassafras gold, pooling into the wide expanse of her belly and settling as burnished butternut orange. Bright maple gold curls about her wide wings, each spar and translucent sail highlighted with flaxen shades and dusted with pale honeysuckle pollen. Narrow haunches are splashed with the luminous bronzed gold of autumn's last leaves, a shade that flows into her long, willow switch of a tail. Long, spindly limbs and toes are laced with cimmerian gold, tipped with glittering bark brown talons.

Egg Name and Description

Squishy Mushy Wet Clothes Egg
A mess of colors bleed across the surface of this, well frankly, ugly little egg giving it the illusion that it wasn't quite colorfast, yet it was thrown in the wash anyhow. What at one time might have been sharply defined hues of carnation pink and sage green is now a muddy mess at the egg's apex. Around the egg's middle are a few baubles of color, a bit of pale blue here or a bit of crimson there, but it's mostly a wash of dirty browns and not so clean looking whites. The colors spin down to the egg's bottom, to settle in the curve as a nasty dirt brown gook, partially hidden by the warm sands of the Hatching Grounds.

Hatching Message

Squishy Mushy Wet Clothes Egg gives a huge shake, scratching noises becoming apparent as the occupant struggles to break free of its confining shell. With a sharp snap, the hairline cracks give way enough for the wet talons of a hatchling to push through. After a brief moment of rest, the hatchling gives one final push and the multicolored egg shatters, leaving a dripping wet gold hatchling blinking blearily in it's place.

Hatchling Name and Description

Impression Message

A soft glow comes over you, a wash of colors swirling and shifting continiously, from green to copper to ocean blue and back. For a moment, they move about maddly, and you feel for a moment that you'll be sick. Suddenly, the world freezes. The colors stop, your breath stops and all that you can see is the autumn gold hatchling before you. « Jheina… » a sultry voice whispers, soft and slow, as feelings of utter joy, undying love and relief at finally finding the other half of your soul drown out your thoughts. It's as if a piece you didn't know was missing has been found, and it's all because of the dragonet. « Jheina, you are my confidant and my conspirator! Oh, we'll have so much to do! So many plans! » The voice giggles, and a new wave of understanding overtakes you. « I am your Talisyth, and I was waiting for you. »

Mindvoice Name and Description

Evershifting Prism Thoughts
Talisyth has what could be called 'too much personality'. To others, she will seem rude, forceful, overly manipulative and arrogant. She's also very clever, and she never backs down from anyone. She knows where she's going in life, and she's going to get there, no matter what. At the same time, she's generally a very sweet gold. When others aren't in her way, she enjoys being around them and being social. Talisyth's mindvoice is a soft, sultry feminine voice, and she tends to draw out her words when she's getting a point across. She never does lose her prismatic mind thoughts, though as she grows she'll tend to settle more on certain colors than others. A strange scent clings to her thoughts as well, a mixture of damp earth, fresh leaves and honeysuckle that is uniquely Talisyth.

Inspiration

The theme of this clutch was chores, and the Squishy Mushy Wet Clothes Egg was based on the chore of doing the laundry. Talisyth herself is based on autumn, that most lovely of seasons that gives us gold leaves, pumpkins and nice weather. Talisyth's name is derived from the Welsh legend of Taliesin, a young man who is pursued by a witch because he kills her son. Taliesin ultimately defeats the witch, though not before some interesting adventures. Taliesin is personified as a beautiful young man, who is highly intelligent and very shrewed at manipulation, but also has a bit of a temper and is a bit self-absorbed, so I felt it fit nicely.

Personality (RP Tips)

Why did Talisyth pick Jheina out of everyone else? It was Jheina's firey nature that appealed to the young queen. All the other candidates told her how pretty she was, or how scary she was for having such ambitions. But only Jheina actually seemed intrigued at Talisyth's ideas. And likewise, Talisyth was interested in Jheina's 'not going to take anything from you' nature, and the fact that Jheina would speak her mind. All these things made Jheina a good compliement for the gold.

Talisyth is the trouble-maker in her clutch. She's infinitely curious about everything that goes on around her, and she'll be sure to get into everything. She'll be the one to root through the other weyrling's chests, pulling out anything that catches her fancy. « Jheina, what do you think of this shirt of R'nel's? Isn't it a lovely shade of green? » Although she enjoys the company of the other dragons, she'll never be above using one to get what she wants. « Hmm, I'll just ask Sidonieth to go find the Weyrhealer. This sun is too warm to waste! » Her long-term memory is slightly better than most dragons, and she'll always remember who has a bad memory and use them to her advantage getting them to get her whatever she wants, then letting them forget she owes them anything. She knows what she wants from life, and she doesn't let anything stand in her way. She'll come off as having a bit of a temper at times, but generally she's easy to get along with, and her mood changes will be well know by how quickly they shift. She'll go from berating,« Aevisaanth, you wherry brained idiot! I said go to the left! Don't you know anything? » to complimenting « Oh, nicely flown, Aevisaanth. That roll looked hard. » in no time.
As she grows older, she'll discover a propensity to flying. Despite her large size, she's surprisingly agile in the skies, and she'll revel in showing off her skills in barrel rolls and loop-de-loops, even if you're along for the ride. « Oops, sorry Jheina. But really, wasn't that fun? » She'll grow a bit more self-absorbed the older she gets, and she'll never fail to remind others that she is a queen, especially potential mates. « Yes, you should move out of that patch of sunshine, Nebryth. Why? Because I want it. That's reason enough! » She isn't much of a flirt, unless it gets her what she wants. She knows she's beautiful, and flaunts it, especially her unusual color. « All the other golds are much too pale. I think my dark color is better, don't you Jheina? » You could sum Talisyth up by saying she certainly doesn't lack self-esteem, and she'll encourage Jheina to be the same way, because no matter how she bickers, Jheina is always first in her thoughts, the only one she considers over herself.
As a young gold, flights will eventually roll around, and I'm sad to say Talisyth has inherited her great-great grandmother Arolaeth's temper when it comes to flights. Her temper will change completely, and heads will roll. She'll withdraw from the other dragons, and discover a deep seated hatred for all things bronze, brown, and even blue. « Stupid males. I see you edging closer, Perrinth! You keep your tail away from me! » She's a demon in the skies, and rarely will a flight be won without a loss of blood first. When eggs finally roll around, she'll be the doting mother who enjoys showing off her labors. « Pagnisath's last clutch wasn't nearly so lovely. » But she only enjoys showing them off at a distance, as she'll be the broody sort, who will only tolerate candidates on the sands for a while before she'll have to run them off. « Oh, Jheina…that one is getting much too close to that egg. I don't like his shifty eyes, either…» Even while she does tolerate them, she'll be moody and watching them carefully, rustling wings and hissing at candidates she doesn't approve of.
