Ethereal Fragile Ray of Sun Gold Miyareith

Dragon Description

Brilliantly shimmering, bright iridescence overlays the pure, bright gold of the dainty queen, creating an aura of colors to glow softly about her. A base coat of sunlit gold, lacking in the darker tones yet still rich in its own right, enfolds delicate, seemingly fragile bones and almost unseen muscles, shimmering with each still-akward movement, though the nearly perfect conformation of short, dainty forearms and delicately muscled long legs promise grace in the future. Iridescence swirls over narrow, angled head in streaks, fading out to be almost imperceptible in places then brightening to loop across her slender throat and over her narrow, short barrel, almost as if she'd been hit by a barrage of bubbles upon hatching. Folded across her back, with membranes so thin as to be nearly transparent, rest gossamer-spun wings, seeming too delicate to support even her own ethereal form in future flight. Far paler gold than the rest of her body, heavy iridescence masks the brightness of the sun-kissed gold of her coloration.

Egg Name and Description

Thunderously Gloomy Egg
Rolling darkness, murky grey on black, looms intimidatingly over most of the eggs in the clutch. Gradients of dark grey piled atop the black seem to give it a fluffy appearance, but its just that - and appearance. For when taken as a whole, the egg presents a rather menacing figure, of secrets and silent menace. Shot through teasingly around the layers of grey are tiny forks of golden-silver lightening touched with an electric purple, veining the shell like cracks, though a judicious touch would prove them to be just as solid as any other portion of the huge ovoid. In none but one place iare the roiling dark shades interrupted: perfect black mars it in one tiny patch, speckled with the faintest spots of white which seem hidden and dominated by the menacing clouds, but proving that perhaps the threat implied by the pattern is not what it appears.

Hatching Message

Thunderously Gloomy Egg has been rocking back and forth slowly the entire time, but just doesn't seem to be too into this hatching thing. But cracks line its surface in the darkness as it gyrates, finally a taloned foot slipping free, then a head, and out emerges another of Arolaeth's chosen daughters.

Colorless Hatchling Name and Description

Ethereal Fragile Shadowed Hatchling
Shadows cloak this rather tiny hatchling in darkness, wrapping around it so firmly not even a speck of light seems to touch the damp hide. All that is seen is a darker shape against the shadows of the sand, a skinny, angular form complete with awkwardly drooping wings and long, curved talons. Its movements are awkward and clumsy, far moreso than most of the other hatchlings still on the sands. A narrow, angular head swings back and forth on a too-slender neck, the tip of its nose sharply pointed while wide jeweled eyes whirl a rapid crimson tinged with orange.

Impression Message

Ethereal Fragile Shadowed Hatchling struggles to her feet once more as Nimway crouches beside her, letting out a gusting sigh of relief as she reaches out to wrap her delicate arms around the girl, and in doing so manages to knock them *both* over and into the light, the hatchling landing, unfortunately, atop the girl.

Mindvoice Name and Description

Gentle, in a word, and calming is the mind of your Miyareith. Her touch will never be abrupt to your mind, or anyone elses, simply because the word 'hurry' is not in her vocabulary. Warm mists that just barely infiltrate on the edges of your consciousness is sometimes the only clue that she's even there, while when she's deep in conversation with you, her mind seems to blanket everything, like a soothing fog dropped over you. The colors of her mind too change depending on her moods. Normal tones are a faint, washed out purple touched with yellow, while sadness brings more of a sea-green tinge, and the almost non-existant anger a bright magenta. The intensity of the fog varies as well with the strength of the voice, as well as several other odd attributes - when she's extremely happy, or simply being reassuring, music seems to flow out of her mind, from a soothing lullaby plucked from your memories as a baby to an upbeat, perky tinkling of bells. Odd sensations too sometimes accompany her touch - when in communication with her for an extended period of time, you may well feel your limbs tingle pleasantly, as if they were about to fall asleep, of perhaps as if covered in something soft and fuzzy. Her mind voice itself is a soft and airy contralto, as if she was whispering, or perhaps as if the fog of her mind muffles out sound.

Why?

Why? Because you need her, of course! Nobody else on the sands seemed to connect with Miyareith while she she was in the egg as you did, Nimway. Nobody else spent so much time with her, talked to her, and *certainly* nobody else cried with her. That alone was enough to rouse the growing dragonet to empathize with you. Of all the candidates, Nimway seemed the most to be in need of someone to care for her, to comfort her and simply be *there*. She could sense a compassionate spirit, something of a match for her own gentleness in you, which drew her like a moth to a flame, because together (perhaps with a little prodding on her part) you can heal the hurts and soothe the feelings of the Weyr.

Growing Up

Though she'll remain eternally small and delicate, Miyareith won't have exactly an easy time figuring out how each of those limbs work, what with their constant growing and changing. She'll never be the strongest thing growing up, and without you prodding her to get up and going, she may very well start putting on spare weight around the thighs, hips and belly. Your Miyareith was simply just not made for all that running around and exercising - or so she'll tell you. Wouldn't it be much better if you'd just lay down here on the couch with her instead? Luckily, her hide tends to stay very moist, but without oiling daily (twice daily when she's going through one of her many growth spurts!) the bright glow of her hide will tend to fade out. When she finally does attain her full growth, she might not be one of the largest golds, or even sa large as her modestly sized dam, but neither will she be the smallest, and only then will she be able to fulfil the promise of delicate grace in her dainty bone structure. Unfortunately, her wings may never fully catch up with her body's growth in strength, rendering her a bit slow and ponderous in the air, and you will have to be very careful not to overburden those incredibly delicate sails and slender bones. Her physical voice is as unlike her mental voice as its possible to be: ridiculously high for a dragon of her size, its a rather squeaky alto. Pleasing in its soft moments, unfortunately those are few and far between as it tends to rocket up in volume without her being aware of it into something that could become very annoying very quickly until she learns to modulate it.

Personality (RP Tips)

Mm, where to start? Well certainly, as she was in the shell, Miyareith is one of the sweetest, gentlest, and kindest dragons out there. Of course, she's completely dedicated to caring and protecting you, for you are hers forever and ever, and its her job to be sure you stay… well.. you. She's quick to offer reassurance when someone is scared or hurt, and almost *impossible* to anger. Seems like the ideal mother, doesn't she? But there's much more to her than meets the eye… or is there?

First of, Miyareith is *never* formal. Ever. She doesn't even know the meaning of the term. From day one she's probably going to insist on your simply calling her Miya, because « My name reallyreally is a lot, isn't it Nimmy? Its so much better like this, isn't it? ». And you're always going to be Nimmy, unless you insist on something else. The rest of the weyrling class had best watch out, too, for they might very well develop affectionate nicknames whether or not they like it.. whether or not they like *her* for that matter. But she really does have good intentions at heart, even if she is a little exuberhant in expressing them. Should someone finally snap at her for all her happy, eager manipulating, well, she'll transform from the bubbly to the soothing almost instantaneously, and relish every minute of her 'mothering' role.

Mothering! When it comes that time in most every gold's life, that of having a clutch, there are undoubtedly few that will love the job more than your Miya. While her dam could hardly stand to stay out on the sands a few days, let alone weeks and months at a time, Miyareith will positively relish it - a chanceto be a mother to something her very own! And candidates - they're not something to be intimidated at all! They need lots of love and reassurance, and *sure* they can touch her eggs so long as they're gentle and careful and quiet not to wake the babies. By the time hatching day rolls around, though you might be infinitly bored by the sands, Miyareith won't be. Not that she isn't.. intelligent per se, but just that she can never get enough of caring for small, helpless things (which, given her size, is just about everything…). But the hatchlings will too be greeted with delight and sent off to meet their new lifemates with exuberance and a touch of sadness.

But… before the mothering comes the flights. Miya may be a friendly, kind heart, but few bronzes may actually find their way into it. Friendly to all, she'll show little preference for one or another… unless of course you want her to! Should some bronze's rider take your fancy, you can be sure that proddy or not Miyareith will go out of her way to help you attract them, though her tactics may have mixed results. « Bronzeth… isn't my Nimmy the cutest thing you've ever seen? » Her tendency for mental pictures over words could get you in trouble, too.
