Ancient Forest Green Kiasyth

Dragon Description

Deep within an forest ancient trees twist into memorable shapes, each one a silent, ageless guardian to the tranquility that spring sunlight brings to meandering pastures, the calm verdancy captured within this green hatchling's hide. Senescent oak dapples her vernal flanks, ethereal leaves delicately entwining her shoulders to create patterns within the shadowy depths of her neckridges, each one tipped with the shimmering iridescence of morning dew. Sylvan grove caresses belly's curve, pale muted light filtering through the dense underbrush to where dark moss thrives around the beech hues of her legs, each firmly rooted to earth-coloured talons. Lustrous, evergreen holly decorates her pinions, the spiked blades yielding only to the feathering ferns that caress her wings, the wingbones festooned with a sprinkling of lavender, tiny bell shapes evocative of vernal equinox's first flowers.

Egg Name and Description

Fragrant Beacon Egg
Royal purple, lime green, indigo and raspberry cover this egg in spots, the tiniest bit of tangerine in the middle of each, though even more shades grace the shell: ochre, heliotrope, pomegranate, amber and alabaster. Some of these seem to have dripped, merging with the nearby colors and creating a riot of color that spreads chaotically from one end of the orb to the other in what seems to be random patterns.

Hatching Message

Ochre, pomegranate and amber wobble as pressure from within the Fragrant Beacon Egg makes it do a dance. Tangerine, lime green and raspberry come together in a tasty toast before the egg's shell finally gives way in a series of cracks and splinters. Fragments of alabaster and royal purple tumble down to the hot sands below as a bewildered hatchling enters the world. Struggling to set aside the shards so it can stand, it moves clumsily to one side as the top of the egg crumbles into indigo pieces around it.

Hatchling Name and Description

Shrouded by Night Hatchling
Dusk has arrived as this hatchling enters the world, a dusky flash of light sparkling against the shadowy hide as its head slowly lifts, a majestic pose that nonetheless gives no inclination as to its true nature. Deepening shadow further obscures the hatchling's true color while highlights in its hide sparkle as it moves, draping it further in darkened glory. For a moment its glowing red eyes are seen in its shrouded head, perhaps a noise heard or a sight seen, but no other clues are given to its identity, just a snort to confirm it is a dragon and not some figment of the imagination.

Impression Message

Shrouded by Night Hatchling walks silently through the disorder of the Hatching Grounds, taking in everything around it, peering through the darkness. Hm. Not you, nor you, nor you. None of you. The Hatchling lets out a long sigh of breath, but it can't seem to find what it's looking for. Yet on it goes, knowing the one it seeks has to be somewhere. Pausing momentarily to examine another group of Candidates, it makes as if to moves on once again. However, this time it suddenly stops dead and stares for a long moment at you. A stray beam of glow light falls upon the Hatchling to reveal verdant hide as she steps forward, a low cry of delight escaping as she gazes up at you - she has chosen!

The sands darken, the clamour vanishes as you are enveloped into something completely foreign to the sand and heat. The forest is cool and dark and the earthy scents of soil and rain fill your nostrils. The trees are massive and the path is dim and for the moment you stand there, breathing in the ageless perfume of an ancient wood. The silence fills your ears and very soul and only the faint, faint hints of starlight are visible between leaves in the skies above. Suddenly a gentle force brushes against your mind, caring but strong and firm. She is there, yet she does not speak. She lets you take a moment to savour the sensations, the feeling and the knowledge that you'll never be alone again before stepping closer out of the dark, her voice echoing timelessly in your heart. « Well, Q'ton. You were hard to find. No matter, I am here. I am your Kiasyth. » No more need be said, except for a hint of vulnerability. « Take me out of here, I'm hungry. »

Mindvoice Name and Description

Whispers in the Wind
Kiasyth's voice is that of a light breeze rippling across a meadow, gently rhythmic in its quiet flow, though whipped to the moan of wind through tall trees when upset. Quiet is a warm summer zephyr that swirls in delightful nuance as she whispers to you, contemplating this or that, tall grasses and sweet wildflowers riffled by her laughter. When she is angry, however, the whoosh of her mental tones could bend trees, flatten grass and stir the waters in your mind like a gale-force hurricane. Her physical voice is much like that which resonates in your mind, a series of warbles, croons and bugles evocative of the wind's many moods.

Personality (RP Tips)

The moment she chooses you for her own, Kiasyth will become your sister, your mother and your daughter all rolled into one. She will give you tenacity and tactfulness and an ability to soar far above the world both physically and mentally.

Weyrling training will be a very busy time for you both. Her curiosity will lead to never ending questions and your answers will never quite satisfy her. So she repeats the question using different words, a skill she learns almost from the moment of that first feed, when Kiasyth wants the tiniest, daintiest morsels of meat. «Chewing, after all, makes the most terrible noises. Very unbecoming!» Early on, she'll also become quite close to her clutchsib Lisynth. They both share ambition, though Kiasyth is unwilling to share the males with her, even from the very beginning. Lisynth's ruthlessness draws her admiration, however, and she occasionally feels she should be more like her. «She is subtle, but she insists on having her own way. I want to be like that.»

Kiasyth's extremely eager to get into the air and try out her wings. In those weeks before flight actually starts, you'll often see her twitching her wings and hopping impatiently. «Can't we fly now? Surely it wouldn't hurt to start a little before everyone else.» This is because her physical strength lies mainly in her wings. They are powerfully built and during training they will become her greatest asset. Later they will carry her far in flights and during Threadfall she will last a little longer than some of the other greens. The disadvantage is that she is a green and, while strong, she simply doesn't have the stamina to outlast the larger dragons. She also has strong flanks, allowing her to push from the ground quickly in takeoff. You must control her, especially when she's young and inexperienced, as there's a danger of her pulling a muscle in her excitement.

Emotionally, she wants to do everything. There's a desire to go here, there and everywhere to find out the whys and wherefores of everything, much like Xoriath. This insatiable curiosity will fade during Weyrlinghood, but she will always retain a certain measure of curiosity «What's over there, Q'ton? We've never been there, let's go see!» She's also extremely strong willed, like Anarith, which will extend to the point of pigheadedness in her younger months. This will likely cause problems for you until she learns control and gains the ability to accept a refusal with grace «It's not fair. I should have been first!»

Kiasyth is not entirely proportional, having a chest that is a bit larger than her size would account for and a longer neck. This might explain her unusual endurance, perhaps through the development of larger lungs, much like clutchsib Tezynth's. Otherwise she's built solidly, one of the mid-sized greens, with strength in every line, though she doesn't totally lack femininity. While she is one of the more graceful dragons on land she's truly elegant in the air, much like a dancer, and carries herself with a great degree of dignity and grace whenever she moves.

Probably her worst habit is wallowing — in dirt, sand or even mud. Something that seems to have arisen from a distant ancestor. She feels it polishes her hide and makes it shinier. It also always brings on a bath followed by an oiling by her rider. «I know I am dirty, you will have to wash me.» Kiasyth loves to feel clean and shiny and is slightly vain about her appearance. «Can you put some more oil on me? I still feel itchy.» She's always preening, which will likely put her at odds with Lisynth, who disapproves of excess in most things.

Kiasyth adores all those who have earned her love and, unlike clutchsib Vyranth, is very affectionate and doesn't mind if a new friend wants to scritch her eyeridges or help her rider bathe her. However, there is a jealous streak, and this is most obvious in the few months after she hatches. She wants all the attention all the time. «What are you doing over there? Come here and scratch my itchy spots»

As she grows older, you will need to keep your will stronger than Kiasyth's especially when it comes to feeding and blooding kills, as she will always want to gorge, something she has in common with Naranth and which is the exact opposite of Tezynth's spartan style. After feeding she will clean herself meticulously, perhaps to escape the criticism of fastidious dragons such as Vyranth, getting off every trace of blood and meat from her face, neck and talons. She may even demand a bath afterwards, or force you into one by having a nice roll in the mud

Kiasyth believes in justice «He stood on your foot, he should apologise immediately!» she'll demand. This characteristic is something she extends to all dragons and humans that she comes into contact with. «She gave me a good rub, can you tell her thank you and get her something nice to eat?» Zaeth shares some of these traits and Kiasyth will forever try and draw him into conversations about these inequalities as she tries to form the world in her image.

She is not a dragon for the light-hearted. Kiasyth will demand tit for tat in pretty much everything. If she loves, she wants that returned. If she's angry then those around her need to be angry too. However, there is a jealous streak lurking under that green hide. «Why are you spending so much time with him? Don't you love me anymore?» Early on she'll master the art of emotional blackmail in an aim to get what she wants. This doesn't mean she's selfish, she just knows what she wants and will attempt to get it, something she likely picked up from Lisynth, though she might never attain her friend's subtlety.

Like every dragon, she was hatched to fight Thread. Her viciousness towards the organism, however, is complete. She's impatient to take to the air when Thread is coming «We need to get there right now. What if it's falling already?» It falls to you to restrain her and remind her about her Wing and it's purpose. When flaming she feels a intense satisfaction and achievement as each Thread is charred to ash. Unfortunately at first this will distract her from the fight and may lead to some Threadscores unless you are strong enough to keep her on track. Later you'll balance each other out, using her experience and your will to power through and become an effective Wing member. At 'Fall's end Kiasyth feels its necessary to sum up her performance, often feeling dissatisfied that she couldn't do more «Why didn't I go for that clump? It was much bigger!»

Proddyness with Kiasyth will be a rollercoaster of experiences. Sometimes she doesn't start glowing right until the minute she's blooding. Other times you will know for a few days that a flight is imminent. The only consistency is that she will want you to wear the richest clothes you can find — gaudy decorated tops, brightly coloured scarves, fringed skirts and gold accessories with sparkly, coloured glass set into them. However, the fact that she loves parading in front of the males just before the flight will give you an idea that the time is near. The flight itself will be an interesting spectacle — she will turn, wheel and dive acrobatically trying to confuse her suitors so she can choose the very best out of those chasing. Afterwards, she'll curl up with her mate and might even stay with him for a few days. But only for a few days!
